  • Patent number: 6118987
Abstract: Gain control is performed on an input signal to an orthogonal modulator used in a radio transmitting apparatus in such a manner that the level of the input signal falls within the proper operation range of the orthogonal modulator. At the time of amplifying and outputting the output of the orthogonal modulator, gain control is executed with the reciprocal of a control gain for the input signal to the orthogonal modulator. Accordingly, the input to the orthogonal modulator of an adaptive array antenna can be compensated within the proper range to ensure the proper operation of the orthogonal modulator.

  • Patent number: 6104086
Abstract: A semiconductor device having lead terminals bent in a J-shape is disclosed. A radiating plate having a recess formed on an outer peripheral portion thereof is exposed to a lower face of a resin member and free ends of outer portions of the lead terminals are positioned in the recess of the radiating plate. The free ends of the outer portions of the lead terminals and the recess of the radiating plate are isolated from each other by projections of the resin member. Since the radiating plate is exposed to the lower face of the resin member, the heat radiating property is high whereas the radiating plate and the lead terminals are not short-circuited to each other at all.

  • Patent number: 6069884
Abstract: A method of communication between a base station with at least a mobile unit communication apparatus, a base station and a mobile unit communication apparatus employing the method are disclosed. The base station has a plurality of antennas for the antenna diversity. Transmission data is spectrum-spread with a pn code for a target mobile unit communication apparatus and a pilot signal is also spectrum-spread with a pn code every antenna, which are frequency-multiplexed. A mobile unit de-spectrum-spreads the pilot signal with one of pn codes selected, which corresponds the transmitting antenna. The pilot signal and data may be time-division-multiplexed in a time slot. Data of the used antenna is transmitted by the base station by a position of null data in the time slot, or differentially coded which is detected by a null data detection circuit or by the delayed detection. Data of the antenna used may be transmitted by a mobile unit communication apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6028852
Abstract: A base station transmits, in addition to a pilot channel, signals which are multiplexed with pilot symbols inserted in the respective signals in communication channels. As the transmission of the pilot channel as a reference signal for coherent detection is unnecessary with high power so as to attain high reliability, the pilot channel can be transmitted with low power by means of weight in comparison with the communication channel, so that interference with the communication channel of any other station is reduced. Moreover, accurate coherent detection can be made from the pilot symbol inserted in the communication channel on the mobile station side.

  • Patent number: RE36591
Abstract: In a base station which has a plurality of antennas, each of a plurality of comparison circuits operates to compare correlation levels, which are obtained by despreading received signals for a plurality of channels, with each other with respect to the antennas. Each of a plurality of transmission antenna selecting circuits operates to determine from which antenna a transmission signal is to be transmitted for every channel. Each of a plurality of multiplexing circuits operates to multiplex the transmission signals of the individual channels, which are spread, for every antenna. As a result, on the basis of the result of the comparison of the correlation levels with respect to the antennas, a transmission antenna is selected for every channel, and the signals of the channels that are to be transmitted by a given antenna are multiplexed, whereby the base station achieves transmission diversity.
