  • Patent number: 5438701
Abstract: When a power supply of a mobile radio apparatus is turned on, a power supply change-over switch of a power supply control unit is changed over to the side of a pager unit to turn on only a power supply of the pager unit, so that a pager network which does not require position registration is utilized to perform intermittent receiving operation with low power consumption. When there is an incoming call to the pager unit, a CPU of the power supply control unit receives an incoming control signal from a pager decoding circuit and changes over the power supply change-over switch to the side of a radio-telephone line terminal unit to turn on the radio telephone line terminal unit and turn off the pager unit. The CPU sends a control signal to a timing control circuit of the radio-telephone line terminal unit so that the position registration is performed by utilizing a mobile radio network and an operation mode of the mobile radio apparatus proceeds to a usual talking mode.

  • Patent number: 5436918
Abstract: The invention intends to improve an error correcting capability in an error correction encoding/decoding apparatus. On the encoding side, after a fixed bit of 0 or 1 was inserted into information signal series to be convolutional correction encoded, the resultant information signal series is convolutionally encoded. On the decoding side, by using the fixed bit inserting position stored in a fixed bit inserting position storing circuit, the information signal series is decoded while limiting the state transition corresponding to the bit position at which the information bit is the fixed bit into only one kind that is decided by the value of the fixed bit.

  • Patent number: 5398254
Abstract: The invention provides greater error correction capability in an error correction encoding/decoding system of a digital mobile telephone or so forth. In a viterbi decoding system at a receiver side, a branch metric is calculated and stored without selecting a path with respect to a plurality of branches corresponding to a parameter having a correlation between frames. Also, by utilizing a separately stored parameter value in a previous frame, a transition probability of the parameter value in the current frame is obtained, a metric value of a path is converted and added to an accumulated path metric value up to the previous branch, a comparison of the metric values at various states is performed to select the path having higher likelihood to perform decoding by maximum likelihood decoding.

  • Patent number: 5357384
Abstract: A flexible magnetic disk drive is disclosed which has a data transducer mounted to a pivotal support beam for movement into and out of data transfer contact with the disk. When the transducer is retracted away from the disk, the support beam butts on the top plate of the disk drive casing for the reduction of the thickness of the disk drive, that is, its dimension in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the disk. A stepper motor is provided for moving the transducer across data tracks on the disk in response to external stepping pulses from a host system and to internal stepping pulses for recalibration. The application of such stepping pulses to a stepper motor control circuit is prevented when the disk is not loaded in the disk drive, in order to avoid the movement of the support beam in sliding contact with the top plate.

  • Patent number: 5341384
Abstract: An error detection method used for digital communication which intends to reduce the probability of outputting the speech obtained by decoding the data that includes an error. The speech data encoded in an error detection code and an error correction code is transmitted. On a receiving side, the data with an error detected in either one of decoding of the error correction code and CRC checking is interpolated so that it is possible to prevent the data which actually includes an error from being decoded into speech as it is.

  • Patent number: 5341111
Abstract: A microwave oscillator circuit is provided for decreasing the number of passive elements such as inductance, etc. in microwave oscillators and frequency doublers. A microwave oscillator circuit is connected to a resonator circuit generating a signal at a frequency f, and produces at its output a signal of frequency nf, and comprises a first field effect transistor having a gate connected to the resonator circuit, a second field effect transistor whose source/drain path is connected in series with the source/drain path of the first field effect transistor and a connecting circuit for coupling either the gate or source of the first field effect transistor to the gate of the second field effect transistor. A signal of frequency nf is output at a node corresponding to a connection point between the source of the first field effect transistor and the drain of the second field effect transistor.

  • Patent number: 5303107
Abstract: A floppy disk drive is disclosed which is for use with a host system capable of connecting its own power supply to the disk drive when its operation is needed, and disconnecting the power supply from the disk drive when its operation is not needed. The disk drive includes a stepper motor for moving a data transducer from track to track on a rotating magnetic disk, and a track counter for ascertaining the radial position of the transducer on the disk by counting the stepping pulses fed from the host system to a stepper motor control circuit. In order to maintain the count of the track counter despite power suspension, the track counter is connected to a supply terminal of the disk drive via a reverse blocking diode, and a capacitor is connected between the diode and ground. The track counter is therefore fed from the capacitor when the disk drive is disconnected from the power supply of the host system.

  • Patent number: 5283702
Abstract: A flexible magnetic disk drive is disclosed which has a stepper motor coupled to a data transducer via a steel belt motion translating mechanism for moving the transducer from track to track on the rotating disk in response to stepping pulses and a stepping direction signal from an external host system. In order to save power, the stepper motor is held deenergized while the disk drive motor is out of rotation, with the consequent possibility that the transducer may be displaced from the required track position on the disk while the stepper motor is held deenergized. Therefore, in order to always memorize the latest of the successive destination tracks commanded by the host system, a forward/backward counter is provided which counts the external stepping pulses in either direction depending upon the binary state of the external stepping direction signal.

  • Patent number: 5260634
Abstract: In order to drive the stepper motor of a floppy disk drive with practically constant current in the face of fluctuations in supply voltage fed from a host system, a power control pulse generator circuit is provided which produces a series of power control pulses having a duty ratio dependent upon fluctuating supply voltage. The power control pulses are used for interrupting the excitation of the stepper motor windings during track seek operation. The power control pulses are generated by first repeatedly counting clock pulses from the host system to a predetermined number to provide periodically varying digital data, then translating the digital data into a triangular wave having an amplitude dependent upon the supply voltage, and then comparing the triangular wave with a reference voltage.
