  • Publication number: 20080131536
Abstract: The method is used to treat diabetic complications such as neuropathy, peripheral neuritis, cataract and retinopathy have shown improvement with flavonoids present in licorice. The improvement was found to be due to the prevention of transformation of glucose to sorbitol by inhibiting aldose reductase enzyme, thus avoiding the accumulation of sorbitol in several tissues including lens, retina, kidney, blood vessels, peripheral nerves and striated muscles. Additionally, licorice prepared by fermentation is rich in amylase which improves diabetic complications due to increase of cellular enzymatic activity. This drug was prepared by fermentation of licorice followed by getting rid of glycerizine using hydrochloric acid and not by boiling for fear of destruction of enzymes and flavonoids.

  • Publication number: 20080047830
Abstract: A hydrolytic cell consists of upper and lower chambers sealed from each other by a divider, with one or more openings in the divider for the passage of gas into the upper chamber. Liquid is prevented from entering the upper chamber by gas-permeable filters such as Hastelloy™ metal filters. Also disclosed is an electrode consisting either of a generally vertical stack of spaced apart perforated disks or porous metal filters such as Hastelloy filters, mounted to a conductive rod. A level sensing system us disclosed, consisting of a light source and detector which directs light into the lower chamber which is reflected off of a reflector within the chamber, such that the liquid level is detected at the level of the detector by a reduced light intensity.

  • Publication number: 20070125088
Abstract: The gas turbines of the present invention have multiple combustion chambers, and within each chamber are multiple fuel nozzles. Each nozzle has its own fuel control valve to control the fuel flowing to the nozzles. To minimize the pressure drop through the fuel control valves, multiple manifolds are employed. Each manifold supplies at least one fuel nozzle in multiple combustion chambers with fuel. The fuel control valves are mounted on the manifolds such that the weight of the fuel control valves and nozzles are carried by the manifolds, not the multiple combustion chambers. A plurality of thermocouples for measuring exhaust gas from said multiple combustion chambers are employed to sense gas exhaust temperature. In carrying out the methods of the present invention for tuning a gas turbine, it is essential to note that the most efficient gas turbine is one which has the least nitrous oxides, the least amount of unburned hydrocarbons, and the least amount of carbon monoxide for a specified energy output.

  • Publication number: 20060202730
Abstract: Clock sources are provided which are especially useful for reducing phase noise in signal samplers that typically provide samples of an analog input signal in signal-conditioning systems such as analog-to-digital converters. This phase noise reduction is realized with the recognition that sampler noise is related to clock jitter by a ratio of the input signal's slew rate to the clock's slew rate. Clock embodiments include a frequency divider and a signal gate. The divider divides a first signal to provide a second signal with a slew rate lowered from the slew rate of the first signal and the gate passes the second signal when commanded by the first signal to thereby generate a clock signal.
