  • Patent number: 10476930
Abstract: Technology to provide improved quality-of-experience-aware multimedia streaming is disclosed. Several types of communications that can be made between clients and servers are described. These communications enable improvements to current approaches that are used to achieve hyper-text transfer protocol (HTTP) adaptive streaming. These messages can be used in conjunction with computer circuitry configured to: determine a bandwidth available to the server for transmitting HTTP adaptive streaming content to a plurality of clients; receive HTTP requests from the plurality of clients for representations offered by the server in a manifest file for the HTTP adaptive streaming; and calculate an availability of each representation that is offered in the manifest file for the server. The availability can be calculated, at least in part, based on the determined bandwidth. The availability of each representation can be communicated from the server to the plurality of clients.

  • Patent number: 10425634
Abstract: A wide spread adoption of 3D videos and technologies is hindered by the lack of high-quality 3D content. One promising solution to address this problem is to use automated 2D-to-3D conversion. However, current conversion methods, while general, produce low-quality results with artefacts that are not acceptable to many viewers. Creating a database of 3D stereoscopic videos with accurate depth is, however, very difficult. Computer generated content can be used to generate high-quality 3D video reference database for 2D-to-3D conversion. The method transfers depth information from frames in the 3D reference database to the target frame while respecting object boundaries. It computes depth maps from the depth gradients, and outputs a stereoscopic video.

  • Patent number: 10370943
Abstract: One example of a wellbore control tool and a method of use is described. A leak is detected in a cased wellbore comprising a multiple telescoping casing sections. A fluid flows in an uphole direction through the cased wellbore. A flow of the fluid in the uphole direction results in a first force in the uphole direction. The leak is in a first telescoping casing section. An open downhole end of a wellbore tool having a weight at least equal to a second force greater than the first force on an uphole end of a second telescoping casing section that is downhole from a location of the leak in the first telescoping casing section is seated. The open downhole end of the wellbore tool provides metal to metal contact against the uphole end of the second telescoping casing section and restricts fluid flow into the leak.

  • Publication number: 20190197225
Abstract: A biometric handheld vaporizer has a housing, a mouthpiece, an oil reservoir, an atomizer, a battery, a battery charging port, a fingerprint sensor, and a microcontroller. The handheld vaporizer remains inoperable until a user submits a photo ID for age verification. One method of using a biometric handheld vaporizer involves inputting fingerprints into the vaporizer, the fingerprints stored on the microcontroller; and, when a user desires to use the vaporizer, placing the authorized fingerprint on the fingerprint sensor, which, upon authorization, closes a circuit to activate an atomizer within the vaporizer.

  • Publication number: 20190187110
Abstract: A septum contains at least one internal chamber along the central axis of the septum. The chamber provides relief space into which the sealing sections of the septum can deform as a needle passes through the septum. Incorporation of the chamber reduces surface area contact and friction between the septum and needle, which results in reduced septum tearing and reduced production of particulate matter from abrasion.

  • Patent number: 10217187
Abstract: The method for dynamic video magnification magnifies small motions occurring simultaneously within large motions. The method involves selecting a region of interest from a video for magnification. The region of interest is warped to obtain a stabilized sequence of frames that discounts large motions. Each frame of the stabilized sequence is decomposed to a foreground layer, a background layer, and an alpha matte layer, and each of the foreground and alpha matte layers is magnified. Then a magnified sequence is generated from the magnified layers using matte inversion. Any image holes in the magnified sequence are filled in using texture synthesis. Finally, the magnified sequence is de-warped to the original space-time coordinates.
