  • Publication number: 20180321135
Abstract: A monitoring and control system includes a stationary body with a sensor, a moving body with a sensor, and at least one computing device. The stationary body is positioned along a path of movement. The moving body moves along the path and physically interacts with the stationary body. The at least one computing device receives signals from the sensor on the stationary body and from the sensor on the moving body. The at least one computing device determines a performance value of the stationary or moving body based on the physical interaction between the moving and stationary bodies. The performance value is dependent on both of the signals received from the sensor associated with the stationary body and received from the sensor associated with the moving body as the moving body interacts with the stationary body.

  • Publication number: 20180315069
Abstract: A promotion price adjustment system of the present application utilizes improved data definitions, caching, and a combination of online and offline processing to increase the efficiency and speed of applying promotional discounts in electronic retail systems. The system performs an offline batch process on a product catalog to generate a predetermined mapping between products in the catalog and candidate promotions. When checkout of a product in a virtual shopping cart is initiated, the product's candidate promotions are obtained from the predetermined mapping. Each of those candidate promotions is then evaluated against the properties of the virtual shopping cart to determine which of those candidate promotions are eligible for application. Any eligible promotions may serve as a basis for applying price discounts to the virtual shopping cart.

  • Publication number: 20180309233
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for connectors used with electronic devices, such as input and/or output ports to connect peripheral equipment or accessories. More specifically, various flat-port are provided that can be used in place of standard connectors including, but not limited to, audio jacks and Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports. The flat-port connectors are an alternate connection design to replace the traditional receptacle port (female-port), making the device more sealed creation more dust and water resistant. It is unique in the way of using the outer surfaces of the device for the electrical connection between the ports. Flat-port design can allow the manufacture of extremely thin devices by eliminating the side ports slots that take a lot of space and contribute to the increase thickness of the device. The flat-port receptacle improves the overall appearance of the device and makes it more resistant to dust and water.

  • Patent number: 10089375
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, during database replication from a source database to a target database, operations applied to the source database are transferred as target operations and applied to the target database. A request from a requestor to idle a specified database object is received during the database replication. In response to receiving the request, transference of the target operations for the specified database object from the source database to the target database is terminated and target operations for the specified database object on the target database are monitored. In response to no target operations being applied to the specified database object on the target database, replication of the specified database object is suspended and the requestor is notified when the idling of the specified database object has completed.

  • Publication number: 20180249017
Abstract: A data usage recommendation system monitors data usage of a computing device on a network over a time period. The data usage recommendation system is aware of a data usage limit on the network over the time period, and determines whether the computing device is on track to not exceed the data usage limit during the time period. The data usage recommendation system, based on whether the computing device is on track to not exceed the data usage limit during the time period, can provide recommendations to a program regarding whether to transfer data over the network. Additionally or alternatively, the data usage recommendation system can manage or direct the transfer of data over the network based on whether the computing device is on track to not exceed the data usage limit during the time period.
