  • Patent number: 9538264
Abstract: An Optical channel Data Unit flex (ODUflex) resizing method, node, and network include determining that the ODUflex needs resizing, wherein the ODUflex is configured in the network on a current path between the node and a second node in the network; when the resizing is a decrease, reducing a size of the ODUflex by i) a resize decrease operation using a control plane or ii) a Link Aggregation Group and Make-Before-Break operation; and, when the resizing is an increase, increasing a size of the ODUflex by i) a resize increase operation using a control plane or ii) a Link Aggregation Group and Make-Before-Break operation. The method provides hitless resizing without using ITU Recommendation G.7044/Y.1347 (10/11) and can perform the reducing or the increasing changing bandwidth of the ODUflex by approximately 100 G in less than a second.

  • Patent number: 9529551
Abstract: Techniques to clone a writeable data object in non-persistent memory are disclosed. The writeable data object is stored in a storage structure in non-persistent memory that corresponds to a portion of a persistent storage. The techniques enable cloning of the writeable data object without having to wait until the writeable data object is saved to the persistent storage and without needing to quiesce incoming operations (e.g., reads and writes) to the writeable data object.

  • Publication number: 20160374028
Abstract: A host device is configured to increase the power output by an internal amplifier of its wireless chipset in response to requests from a remote device. Once the internal amplifier has reached its maximum power, further requests for power increases from the remove device do not similarly lead to automatic power increases being delivered by a external amplifier of the host device. Rather, the host device determines the strength of the link between it and the remote device. If the signal strength is too low, it is an indication that the signal power output by the remote device may not be sufficient to maintain the link and that any further increases in signal power by the host device will have little or no effect on the link. However, if the signal strength from the remote device is sufficient, the host device determines an error rate between it and the remote device. If the error rate is sufficiently low to maintain the link, then the host device will not further increase its signal output power.

  • Publication number: 20160371376
Abstract: Methods and systems for searching logical patterns in voluminous multi sensor data from the industrial internet is provided. The method retrieves instances of patterns in time-series data where patterns are specified logically, using a sequence of symbols. The logical symbols used are a subset of the qualitative abstractions specifically, the concepts of steady, increasing, decreasing. Patterns can include symbol-sequences for multiple sensors, approximate duration as well as slope values for each symbol. To facilitate efficient querying, each sensor time-series is pre-processed into a sequence of logical symbols. Each position in the resulting compressed sequence is registered across a TRIE-based index structure corresponding to the multiple logical patterns it may belong to. Logical multi-sensor patterns are efficiently retrieved and ranked using such a structure. This method of indexing and searching provides an efficient mechanism for exploratory analysis of voluminous multi-sensor data.

  • Patent number: 9520794
Abstract: An electronic system and method include a controller to operate in a start-up mode to accelerate driving a load to an operating voltage and then operates in a post-start-up mode. A start-up condition occurs when the controller detects that a load voltage is below a predetermined voltage threshold level. The predetermined voltage threshold level is set so that the controller will boost the voltage to an operating value of a load voltage at a faster rate than during normal, steady-state operation. The controller causes a switching power converter to provide charge to the load at a rate in accordance with a start-up mode until reaching an energy-indicating threshold. When the energy-indicating threshold has been reached, the controller causes the switching power converter to (i) decrease the amount of charge provided to the load relative to the charge provided during the start-up mode and (ii) operate in a distinct post-start-up-mode.

  • Patent number: 9521088
Abstract: A packet quota value, which indicates a maximum number of network packets that a network appliance processes before switching to a different task, is modified. Log data, which includes multiple log entries spanning a time interval, is accessed. Each log entry includes a processing time that indicates how much time the network appliance spent performing network traffic tasks before switching to the different task. The log data is analyzed. Responsive to the analysis indicating that a current state of network traffic is heavier than a maximum state of network traffic that was observed during the time interval, the packet quota value is increased. Responsive to the analysis indicating that the current state of network traffic is lighter than a minimum state of network traffic that was observed during the time interval, the packet quota value is decreased.

  • Patent number: 9516493
Abstract: This application relates to systems, methods, and apparatus for testing operability of a mobile device with a reader device. In some embodiments, a testing system is set forth for automatically placing the mobile device proximate to the reader device in order to initiate a wireless transaction between the mobile device and the reader device. Depending on whether the mobile device is determined to be operable with the reader device, the testing system can automatically place the mobile device proximate to another reader device for testing. In this way, reductions in testing time can be manifested as a result of automating the testing process.

  • Patent number: 9514018
Abstract: Certain example embodiments described herein relate to techniques for scaling processing systems. For instance, in certain example embodiments, a scaling master receives a user-specified scaling and/or alerting query. The scaling and/or alerting query is transmitted to scaling agents at respective ones of the processing elements, the transmission using the connection layer. Each of the scaling agents executes the at least one scaling and/or alerting query. Each of the scaling agents reports a result of the executing to the scaling master using the connection layer. The scaling master forms a scaling decision based on the result reported by each of the scaling agents.

  • Publication number: 20160350321
Abstract: Techniques for search with autosuggest and refinements are disclosed. In some embodiments, search with autosuggest includes determining a plurality of potential query suggestions for a partially entered query string; and automatically suggesting a plurality of queries based on a query count for each of the queries. For example, the query count can correspond to a popularity of the query. In some implementations, the query count can be determined based on a number of times that the query was received, and the plurality of queries can be listed based on the popularity of each of the plurality of queries (e.g., to facilitate display of more popular queries higher in the list of suggested queries).

  • Publication number: 20160353380
Abstract: A technique for reducing interference on conducted RF links involves a determination of active wireless channels in an electronic device. For example, the device can determine whether there are any active cellular, WiFi, and/or Bluetooth channels. If so, any active channels can be removed from a list of possible channels that can be used for generating the RF signals for the conducted RF link. If any idle channels remain available, one or more may be selected for use for the conducted RF link. Those idle channels having a higher offset from any active channels may be given a greater weight in the selection since they should be less likely to be subject to interference. If not, one of the least crowded active channels may be selected for use for the conducted RF link.
