  • Patent number: 8935619
Abstract: A context sensitive slider content area provides a slide out mechanism that is automatically actuated when additional information is needed during a chat session between an agent and a visitor, e.g. where a pre-chat and/or exit form is to be completed. The context sensitive slide out content area also provides problem resolution information to the visitor to help in solving problems, e.g. the top five problems; and also provides a self-service step-by-step wizard. A history section is provided with which the visitor can track back all previous steps carried out within the smart client. A history bar provides an iconic representation of all previous activities. A technique is also disclosed for executing various actions, such as form filling or requests for additional services, in a chat session.

  • Publication number: 20150006229
Abstract: This invention relates to the assortment of new products into a chain of stores in a manner that maximizes profit for a store-product combination utilizing average weekly gross margin return on inventory investment (GMROII). Typical product assortment logic relies on store groupings to determine which stores should carry which products. The assortment decision is also taken by grouping products together by product characteristics like brand, size, color etc. Utilizing average weekly gross margin return on inventory investment as a criterion for assorting products implies making the product assortment decision at the store—product level instead of at a group of stores—product characteristic level. Also, by utilizing the profit contributed by a product—store combination as one of the primary criteria in assortment, it is possible to improve margins for the store chain.

  • Patent number: 8916670
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to electrolyte materials. According to an embodiment, the present invention provides for a solid polymer electrolyte material that has high ionic conductivity and is mechanically robust. An exemplary material can be characterized by a copolymer that includes at least one structural block, such as a vinyl polymer, and at least one ionically conductive block with a siloxane backbone. In various embodiments, the electrolyte can be a diblock copolymer or a triblock copolymer. Many uses are contemplated for the solid polymer electrolyte materials. For example, the novel electrolyte material can be used in Li-based batteries to enable higher energy density, better thermal and environmental stability, lower rates of self-discharge, enhanced safety, lower manufacturing costs, and novel form factors.

  • Publication number: 20140370388
Abstract: The accurate determination of the state-of-charge (SOC) of batteries is an important element of battery management. One method to determine SOC is to measure the voltage of the cell and exploiting the correlation between voltage and SOC. For electrodes with sloped charge/discharge profiles, this is a good method. However, for batteries with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathodes the charge/discharge profile is flat. Now, by using the materials and methods disclosed herein, an amount of cathode active material that has a sloped charge/discharge profile is mixed with LFP in a cathode, which results in a charge/discharge profile with enough slope that the SOC of the battery can be determined by measuring the voltage alone.

  • Patent number: 8914892
Abstract: A Data Loss Prevention (DLP) system is enhanced according to this disclosure by augmenting the information obtained from OS API hooking with “context” information obtained from other sources, such as by monitoring an endpoint's user interface (UI). In one embodiment, the additional “context” information is obtained from one or more user interface hooks that provide the DLP system with additional information, such as the contents of one or more application windows, the UI elements contained in a particular display window, window activation or deactivation, window resizing, user input, pointer operations, and the like. This UI information defines a “context” of the application, namely, its operating state (including, without limitation, its display state), and associated user actions that define that state. When a particular OS API hook is invoked by the application, the DLP solution uses the context information to make a more accurate enforcement decision, preferably based on the UI context.

  • Publication number: 20140365340
Abstract: The present disclosure involves ensuring that items sold by a merchant appear in certain network pages. A network page is automatically accessed in a computing device. The network page is generated by a referral network site that displays at least one offering of an item by at least one competitor merchant. A unique identifier associated with the item is identified from the network page in the computing device. The unique identifier is stored in association with the item in a data store accessible to the computing device. The item and the unique identifier are included in a feed sent from the computing device of a merchant to the referral network site. The feed includes a listing of the item and a plurality of other items, wherein the item and the other items are offered for sale by the merchant.

  • Publication number: 20140359264
Abstract: A microcontroller includes a clock generator having an internal reference clock, a system mode controller establishing an operating mode, a flash memory having an internal clock and a non-volatile option register, and a boot mode selection logic circuit coupled to the system mode controller and the flash memory. The logic circuit outputs a boot mode selection signal instructing the microcontroller to boot in a very low power run (VLPR) mode or a RUN mode. The system mode controller enters the VLPR or RUN mode in response. The flash memory bypasses and disables its internal clock prior to calibration of the flash memory in the VLPR mode and prior to initialization of the flash memory in the RUN mode. The flash memory subsequently uses an external clock signal based on the output of the internal reference clock.

  • Publication number: 20140344904
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for authenticating users to a computing application. A mobile or tablet device is used to generate a security code. Near field communication (NFC) hardware on the mobile device is used to transfer the security code from the mobile device to a computer. To transfer the one-time value, a user simply taps an NFC enabled mobile device on an NFC enabled computing device (e.g. a laptop running a web browser used to access a web service). In one embodiment, doing so triggers a connection between the two devices and an application running on the mobile device transfers the security code to an NFC receiver application running on the computer. The receiving computer may be configured to auto-fill the received security code in the appropriate form field of the application authentication interface.

  • Patent number: 8889301
Abstract: Nanostructured gel polymer electrolytes that have both high ionic conductivity and high mechanical strength are disclosed. The electrolytes have at least two domains—one domain contains an ionically-conductive gel polymer and the other domain contains a rigid polymer that provides structure for the electrolyte. The domains are formed by block copolymers. The first block provides a polymer matrix that may or may not be conductive on by itself, but that can soak up a liquid electrolyte, thereby making a gel. An exemplary nanostructured gel polymer electrolyte has an ionic conductivity of at least 1×10?4 S cm?1 at 25° C.
