  • Publication number: 20120256248
Abstract: Gate induced drain leakage in a tunnel field effect transistor is reduced while drive current is increased by orienting adjacent semiconductor bodies, based on their respective crystal orientations or axes, to optimize band-to-band tunneling at junctions. Maximizing band-to-band tunneling at a source-channel junction increases drive current, while minimizing band-to-band tunneling at a channel-drain junction decreases GIDL. GIDL can be reduced by an order of magnitude in an embodiment. Power consumption for a given frequency can also be reduced by an order of magnitude.

  • Publication number: 20120260008
Abstract: One embodiment of the invention comprises a non-transitory, tangible computer readable storage medium encoded with processor readable instructions to perform a method of transferring SDIO data. One method comprises buffering multiple IP packets to transfer from one of a SDCC host and a SDIO client to the other of the SDCC host and the SDIO client. A multiplexing header is attached to each of the multiple IP packets and one of at least one SDIO read command and at least one SDIO write command issued. The multiple IP packets are then transferred in a single SDIO transfer between the one of a SDCC host and a SDIO client to the other of the SDCC host and the SDIO client.

  • Patent number: 8286011
Abstract: A method and apparatus for storing and classifying packets transmitted over a network to a processor in a low power mode. The processor receives and classifies the packets as interesting or not interesting. Uninteresting packets are discarded while interesting packets are stored in memory. For the first interesting packet received, a receive timer is activated and for every interesting packet received a counter is incremented. A transmit timer is activated when the processor enters the low power mode. When either the receive timer expires, the transmit timer expires or the counter reaches a threshold value then a wake-up interrupt is asserted.

  • Publication number: 20120250512
Abstract: The present solution is directed to a system for handling network interface card (NIC) congestion by a NIC aware application. The system may include a device having a plurality of network interface cards (NICs), a transmission queue corresponding to a NIC of the plurality of NICs; and an overflow queue for storing packets for the NIC when congested. The system may also include an application executing on the device outputting a plurality of packets to the transmission queue responsive to detecting that the NIC is identified as not congested. The device identifies the NIC as congested responsive to determining that a number of packets stored in the transmission queue has reached a predetermined threshold and responsive to detecting identification of the NIC as congested, the application stores one or more packets to the overflow queue. The device transmits one or more of the plurality of packets stored in the transmission queue and transmits a predetermined number of packets from the overflow queue.

  • Publication number: 20120240033
Abstract: A system receives a page request for a requested document, where the requested document specifies a set of first images as being presentable within the requested document. In response to the received page request, the system modifies the requested document and generates a modified document. The modified document specifies a second image that is to be generated based on the set of first images. The system generates the second image, based on the set of first images, and provides the modified document and access to the second image. The second image is an aggregation of the first images, which are represented within the second image as sprites to be rendered with the modified document. The modified document may use these sprites by specifying regions within the second image as being presentable within the modified document, where these regions correspond to the first images.

  • Publication number: 20120237112
Abstract: Depth values in a scene are measured by projecting sets of patterns on the scene, wherein each set of patterns is structured with different spatial frequency using different encoding functions. Sets of images of the scene is acquired, wherein there is one image for each pattern in each set. Depth values are determining for each pixel at corresponding locations in the sets of images. The depth values of each pixel are analyzed, and the depth value is returned if the depth values at the corresponding locations are similar. Otherwise, the depth value is marked as having an error.

  • Patent number: 8263525
Abstract: A new class of sorbents for the removal of mercury from contaminated water. The optimum structure of the sorbent particles and a method to produce the same is described. The newly developed carbon-based particles are differentiated from other sorbent particles by their high accessible surface area and high affinity towards mercury ions that leads to faster and higher mercury adsorption. The sorbent is based on carbon particles with a metal-oxide coating on the surface. The metal-oxide is coated on the surface of carbon, using a solution-based method. The metal-oxide coated carbon was further modified with sulfur molecules, to increase its mercury removal capacity.
