  • Publication number: 20130070606
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for increasing the throughput of a multiplexed electrical bus by exploiting available pipeline stages of a computer or other system. For example, a method for increasing a throughput of an electrical bus that connects at least two devices in a system comprises introducing at least one signal hold stage in a signal-receiving one of the two devices, such that a maximum frequency at which the two devices are operated is not limited by a number of cycles of an operating frequency of the electrical bus needed for a signal to propagate from a signal-transmitting one of the two devices to the signal-receiving one of the two devices. Preferably, the signal hold stage introduced in the signal-receiving one of the two devices is a pipeline stage re-allocated from the signal-transmitting one of the two devices.

  • Publication number: 20130063092
Abstract: Electrochemical cells that use electrolytes made from new polymer compositions based on poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) and other high-softening-temperature polymers are disclosed. These materials have a microphase domain structure that has an ionically-conductive phase and a phase with good mechanical strength and a high softening temperature. In one arrangement, the structural block has a softening temperature of about 210° C. These materials can be made with either homopolymers or with block copolymers. Such electrochemical cells can operate safely at higher temperatures than have been possible before, especially in lithium cells. • Patent number: 8370208
Abstract: This disclosure relates to determining whether to include items in a feed to a referral network site. A catalog is maintained of a plurality of items sold through an electronic commerce network site, wherein at least a portion of a plurality of sales of the items originate by virtue of a referral from a referral network site. A quantity of commercial data associated with the items is stored in a data store, and a predictive model is trained with the commercial data associated with the items. Each of the items is applied to the predictive model to determine whether such items are to be included in a feed to the referral network site. The feed that includes a subset of the items is sent to the referral network site.

  • Publication number: 20130029663
Abstract: Disclosed are devices, methods and computer program products for radio access network (RAN) signal acquisition. In one aspect, a mobile device scans a radio frequency spectrum for RAN signals and detects signals corresponding to a plurality of channels of a first network type having a first channel bandwidth. The mobile device then determines a power level of the detected signal on each of the plurality of channels and discards signals having substantially equal power within a first frequency range to define a remaining set of signals. The first frequency range corresponds to a second channel bandwidth of a second network type and the second channel bandwidth is greater than the first channel bandwidth. The mobile device then ranks the remaining signals based on the determined power level and selects one of the remaining signals for acquisition based on the ranking.

  • Patent number: 8359189
Abstract: Statements of a computer program expressed using a first source natural language are made meaningful to a programmer familiar with a second target natural language. The first source natural language of the computer program is determined from the programmer, or through analysis, and the second target natural language desired by the programmer is selected. Textual constructs may be parsed, with reference to stored coding conventions to determine meaningful lexical tokens. Such tokens are translated with a translation engine, and displayed to the programmer, desirably using a graphical user interface feature of an integrated development, environment (IDE) for computer programming in a particular programming language.

  • Patent number: 8325795
Abstract: Generation of live streaming indices is disclosed that stores a media stream recording from a live event. Seek points are added to a fixed-length index memory corresponding to each point of the media stream separated at a first interval. In response to the fixed length being reached, alternate ones of the seek points are deleted up to a predefined percentage of the fixed length. Location indicators are added where the deletions caused the previous interval to be altered and at the end of the previous seek points remaining in the index memory. A new interval is then calculated, which corresponds to the altered interval, after which new seek points are added beginning at the second location indicator to the index memory corresponding to the points in the media stream separated by the new interval.
