  • Publication number: 20210340695
Abstract: Fibers, yarns, woven fabric including the yarns and fibers, and methods of manufacturing the same are disclosed. Fibers can include base material staple fibers and dissolvable or water-soluble fibers. At least the base material staple fiber is mixed and cleaned to form a base material web or sliver. The clean base material web or sliver is then intimately mixed with the dissolvable fibers in a blow room to form a homogenously-mixed base material/dissolvable material sliver. The homogenously-mixed base material/dissolvable material sliver is then blended again during drawing so as to produce a twice-mixed, ultra-homogenous yarn comprising base material and dissolvable material. A processing step can allow for removal of the dissolvable fibers to produce a yarn defining a plurality of pores that are uniformly distributed throughout the structure of the yarn.

  • Publication number: 20210342268
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, a processing unit includes a processor core and a vertical cache hierarchy including at least a store-through upper-level cache and a store-in lower-level cache. The upper-level cache includes a data array and an effective address (EA) directory. The processor core includes an execution unit, an address translation unit, and a prefetch unit configured to initiate allocation of a directory entry in the EA directory for a store target EA without prefetching a cache line of data into the corresponding data entry in the data array. The processor core caches in the directory entry an EA-to-RA address translation information for the store target EA, such that a subsequent demand store access that hits in the directory entry can avoid a performance penalty associated with address translation by the translation unit.

  • Publication number: 20210342312
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a first set of file system objects included in performing a requested file system operation is identified in response to a request to perform a file system operation. An update intent corresponding to the requested file system operation is inserted into a data structure associated with each identified file system object. Each file system object corresponding to the corresponding data structure is modified as specified by the update intent in that data structure. After modifying the file system object corresponding to the corresponding data structure, the update intent is removed from that data structure.

  • Patent number: 11163683
Abstract: Disclosed is a computer implemented method to dynamically adjust prefetch depth, the method comprising sending, to a first prefetch machine, a first prefetch request configured to fetch a first data address from a first stream at a first depth to a lower level cache. The method also comprises sending, to a second prefetcher, a second prefetch request configured to fetch the first data address from the first stream at a second depth to a highest-level cache. The method further comprises determining the first data address is not in the lower level cache, determining, that the first prefetch request is in the first prefetch machine, and determining, in response to the first prefetch request being in the first prefetch machine, that the first stream is at steady state. The method comprises adjusting, in response to determining that the first stream is at steady state, the first depth.

  • Patent number: 11165780
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that may be implemented to secure a publicly-hosted web application so that it will render only within the determined context of a trusted client application. Such an authentication decision may be made, for example, using front-end web application code that is rendered in a client web view together with client application code to authenticate the client application context in which the web page is rendered. In this way, the web application may validate that it is being rendered in the context of a trusted and/or well-known client application rendering engine/environment.

  • Patent number: 11157462
Abstract: Transportable storage devices are communicatively coupled behind one or more dedicated “edge” data servers to take advantage of the benefits of the data servers and transportable storage devices while limiting their disadvantages. Each edge data server ingests data from one or more client devices and copies the data to one or more of the transportable storage devices for eventual transport to a cloud data center for upload to a cloud storage system. Object identifiers of objects stored on the transportable storage devices are maintained in a namespace of the data servers after decoupling of the transportable storage devices from the data servers so that the object identifiers remain visible to client devices.

  • Patent number: 11151624
Abstract: A system generates a first gift selection matrix that includes a first set of items of interest to a recipient organized in columns of increasing cost and rows of decreasing interest to the recipient. The system transmits the first gift selection matrix to a first user computing device and to a second user computing device. Item selections are received from users, along with gift purchase contribution pledges. If the pledges are insufficient to cover a cost of one of the selected items, the system sends a request to the first user and the second user for either an a second gift selection, or a pledge of additional funds. If the new gift selections are not the same, or if the pledged amounts are insufficient to purchase a selected gift, the system generates a second gift selection matrix. The system transmits the second gift selection matrix to the first user computing device and the second user computing device. A final gift selection can be made from the second matrix.

  • Patent number: 11151054
Abstract: A central processing unit (CPU) sets a cache lookup operation to a first mode in which the CPU searches a cache and only performs an address translation in response to a cache miss. The CPU performs the cache lookup operation while in the first mode using an address that results in a cache miss. Responsive to the CPU detecting the cache miss, the CPU sets the cache lookup operation from the first mode to a second mode in which the CPU concurrently searches the cache and performs an address translation. The CPU performs a cache lookup operation while in the second mode using a second address that results in a cache hit. Responsive to detecting the cache hit, the CPU sets the cache lookup operation from the second mode to the first mode. This process repeats in cycles upon detection of cache hits and misses.

  • Patent number: 11151426
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for categorizing items based on attributes of the item and a shape of the item, where the shape of the item is determined from an image of the item. An exemplary system configured as disclosed herein can receive a request to categorize an item, the item having a plurality of attributes, and receive an image of the item. The system can identify, via a processor configured to perform image processing, a shape of the item based on the image, and transform the plurality of attributes and the shape of the item, into a plurality of quantifiable values. The system can then categorize the item based on the quantifiable values.

  • Publication number: 20210318816
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed which allow a secondary storage system to provide data to non-production workloads in conjunction with performing data backup and protection tasks. As disclosed, a secondary storage system exposes backup data stored by the secondary storage system to other workloads, such as test and development applications, data analytics, etc. These non-production workloads can run at the same time the secondary storage system provides backup services to a primary storage system. This consolidation eliminates the need for an enterprise to deploy separate storage clusters for analytics, test and development applications, etc. and eliminates unnecessary copies of data.

  • Patent number: 11144524
Abstract: Techniques for cloning, writing to, and reading from file system metadata. Cloning involves identifying a first set of pointers included in a first root node in a file system metadata tree structure that stores file system metadata in leaf nodes of the tree structure, creating a first copy of the first root node that includes the first set of pointers, creating a second copy of the first root node that includes the first set of pointers, associating the first copy with a first view, and associating the second copy with a second view. Reading generally involves traversing the tree structure towards a target leaf node that contains data to be read. Writing generally involves traversing the tree structure in the same manner, but also creating copies of any nodes to be modified if those nodes are deemed to have a different treeID than a particular root node.
