  • Publication number: 20220369329
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for adjusting a packet duration for triggered uplink (UL) transmissions to an access point (AP) from one or more stations (STAs). In one aspect, the AP may estimate an amount of data that a STA has queued for UL transmission and select the packet duration based on the estimated amount of queued UL data. The AP may transmit a trigger frame that solicits UL data from the STA and indicates the selected packet duration. In response, the AP may receive an UL packet from the STA and determine an amount of UL data queued in the STA based on the UL packet. In some implementations, the AP may selectively adjust the packet duration for UL transmissions based on the UL packet, the determined amount of UL data queued in the STA, or both.

  • Publication number: 20220317041
Abstract: Systems and methods of performing a stress measurement of a chemically strengthened glass using a light-scattering polarimetry system include adjusting the intensity of a light beam from a light source in an illumination system using a rotatable half-wave plate and a first polarizer operably disposed between the light source and a rotating light diffuser that has a rotation time tR. The first polarizer is aligned with a second polarizer in a downstream optical compensator to have matching polarization directions by rotating the rotatable half-wave plate to a position where the exposure time tE falls within an exposure range tR?tE. The method also includes performing an exposure using the exposure time tE to obtain the stress measurement. One or both of the half-wave plate and first polarizer can be tilted to avoid deleterious back-reflected light from entering the light source.

  • Patent number: 11450421
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that provide smart alerts to users, e.g., alerts to users about diabetic states that are only provided when it makes sense to do so, e.g., when the system can predict or estimate that the user is not already cognitively aware of their current condition, e.g., particularly where the current condition is a diabetic state warranting attention. In this way, the alert or alarm is personalized and made particularly effective for that user. Such systems and methods still alert the user when action is necessary, e.g., a bolus or temporary basal rate change, or provide a response to a missed bolus or a need for correction, but do not alert when action is unnecessary, e.g., if the user is already estimated or predicted to be cognitively aware of the diabetic state warranting attention, or if corrective action was already taken.

  • Publication number: 20220276106
Abstract: The hybrid measurement system includes an evanescent prism coupling spectroscopy (EPCS) sub-system and a light-scattering polarimetry (LSP) sub-system. The EPCS sub-system includes an EPCS light source system optically coupled to an EPCS detector system through an EPCS coupling prism. The LSP sub-system includes an LSP light source optically coupled to an optical compensator, which in turn is optically coupled to a LSP detector system via a LSP coupling prism. A support structure supports the EPCS and LSP coupling prisms to define a coupling prism assembly, which supports the two prisms at a measurement location. Stress measurements made using the EPCS and LSP sub-systems are combined to fully characterize the stress properties of a transparent chemically strengthened substrate. Methods of processing the EPCS and LSP measurements and enhanced configurations of the EPCS and LPS sub-systems to improve measurement accuracy are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11418797
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for performing efficient video transmission are disclosed. In a video processing system, a transmitter identifies multiple planes in a scene. The transmitter renders and compresses each of the multiple planes with a combination of a corresponding compression level and a resolution, which is different from a combination of compression level and resolution of any other plane. For each plane, the transmitter inserts, in multi-plane information, data such as identification of the plane, a location in the video frame for the plane, and one or more of a resolution and compression level for the plane. The transmitter conveys the rendered and compressed planes along with the multi-plane information to a receiver. The receiver decodes each of the planes and insets each of the planes on any lower resolution planes of the multiple planes.

  • Publication number: 20220096466
Abstract: This invention establishes a new paradigm for treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD) by eliminating senescent cells that reside in or around the site of the disease pathophysiology. Exposure of test subjects to the herbicide paraquat (PQ) increases the risk for developing Parkinson's disease. The data in this disclosure show that PQ induces a senescence arrest and SASP in astrocytes, in culture and in vivo in mice, and senescent cell markers were present in astrocytes in midbrain tissue from PD patients. In a transgenic mouse model, senescent cell ablation protected against PQ-induced PD-like neuropathology. Removal of senescent cells from affected sites using small molecule agents that specifically target senescent cells can help prevent or ameliorate signs and symptoms of the disease.

  • Publication number: 20220072015
Abstract: This invention is based on the discovery that many eye conditions associated with aging are mediated at least in part by cells bearing a senescent phenotype. Senescent cells accumulate with age, and express factors that contribute to the pathophysiology of age related conditions. The data show that in age-matched patients, the severity of age-related conditions correlates with the abundance of senescent cells, and that clearing senescent cells can help abrogate the condition. Small molecule drugs that remove senescent cells from affected tissue in the eye are provided that have special efficacy in treating ophthalmic conditions. They not only inhibit progression of the disease, they can also reverse some of the pathophysiology—such as neovascularization and vaso-obliteration—that lead to vision loss. These senolytic agents have an appropriate dose and specificity profile to be effective in the clinical management of previously intractable ophthalmic conditions.

  • Patent number: 11209899
Abstract: A technique for adjusting the brightness values of images to be displayed on a stereoscopic head mounted display is provided herein. This technique improves the perceived dynamic range of the head mounted display by dynamically adjusting the pixel intensities (also known generally as “exposure”) of the images presented on the head mounted display based on a detected gaze direction. The head mounted display includes an eye tracker that is able to sense the gaze directions of the eyes. The eye tracker, head mounted display, or a processor of a computer system receives this information, determines an intersection point of the eye gaze and a screen within the head mounted display and identifies a gaze area around this intersection point. Using this gaze area, the processing system adjusts the pixel intensities of an image displayed on the screen based on the intensities of the pixels within the gaze area.

  • Patent number: 11212537
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for performing efficient video compression are disclosed. A video processing system includes a transmitter sending a video stream over a wireless link to a receiver. The transmitter includes a processor and an encoder. The processor generates rendered blocks of pixels of a video frame, and when the processor predicts a compression level for a given region of the video frame is different from a compression level for immediately neighboring blocks, the processor generates side information. The side information identifies a location of the given region in the video frame and a type of content that causes the compression level differences. The processor sends the rendered video information and the side information as accompanying metadata to the encoder. The encoder updates encoding parameters based on the received side information, and compresses the rendered given region based on the updated encoding parameters.
