  • Publication number: 20150015197
Abstract: A double-sided LCC compensation network and a tuning method are proposed for a wireless power transfer system. With the proposed topology, the resonant frequency is independent of coupling coefficient and load conditions. The parameter values are tuned to realize zero voltage switching (ZVS) for the sending side switches. A wireless charging system with up to 7.7 kW output power was designed and built using the proposed topology and achieved 96% efficiency from DC power source to battery load.

  • Patent number: 8933729
Abstract: Differential receivers are “stacked” and independently calibrated to different common-mode voltages. The different common-mode voltages may correspond to the common-mode voltages of stacked transmission circuits. Multiple stacks of samplers are connected to the same channels. The clocking of each stack of sampler circuits is phased (timed) such that the samplers in a given stack are not resolving at the same time. Samplers in a different stack and receiving a different common-mode voltage resolve at the same time.

  • Patent number: 8933944
Abstract: An improved external controller with dual microcontrollers useable with an implantable medical device is disclosed. The external controller comprises a low speed (low frequency) microcontroller and a high speed (high frequency) microcontroller. The low speed microcontroller receives telemetry data from the medical device, converts data into graphical commands, and transmits commands to the high speed microcontroller. The high speed microcontroller interprets the graphical commands, retrieves images indicative of the commands from a storage device, and renders the images onto a display screen. The high speed microcontroller may also process more complicated data sent from the low speed microcontroller, and return the results to the low speed microcontroller to allow it to form the graphics command for the high speed microcontroller to execute.

  • Patent number: 8934679
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a real-time face recognition apparatus and method. A real-time face recognition apparatus includes a face detection unit for detecting a face image by obtaining image coordinates of a face from an input image. An eye detection unit obtains image coordinates of both eyes in the face image. A facial feature extraction unit generates feature histogram data based on parallel processing from the face image. A DB unit stores predetermined comparative feature histograms. A histogram matching unit compares the histogram data generated by the facial feature extraction unit with the comparative feature histograms, and then outputting similarities of face images. The face recognition apparatus may be implemented as internal hardware in which a VGA camera and an exclusive chip interface with each other, thus remarkably reducing a system size and installation cost, and performing face recognition in real time without requiring additional equipment.

  • Patent number: 8934280
Abstract: Providing for capacitive programming of two-terminal memory devices is described herein. By way of example, a capacitance circuit can be precharged to a predetermined program voltage to facilitate programming one or more memory cells. The capacitance circuit can be disconnected from a power source and connected instead to the memory cell(s), enabling charge stored by the capacitance circuit to discharge through the memory cell(s). A current at the memory cell(s) can program the cell, while a total amount of discharge is limited to the charge stored by the capacitance circuit. Limiting the total charge can serve to also limit joule heating of the target memory cell, power consumption of a memory device, as well as other benefits.
