  • Publication number: 20150009745
Abstract: Providing for resistive random access memory (RRAM) having high read speeds is described herein. By way of example, a RRAM memory can be powered at one terminal by a bitline, and connected at another terminal to a gate of a transistor having a low gate capacitance (relative to a capacitance of the bitline). With this arrangement, a signal applied at the bitline can quickly switch the transistor gate, in response to the RRAM memory being in a conductive state. A sensing circuit configured to measure the transistor can detect a change in current, voltage, etc., of the transistor and determine a state of the RRAM memory from the measurement. Moreover, this measurement can occur very quickly due to the low capacitance of the transistor gate, greatly improving the read speed of RRAM.

Abstract: A communications cable is disclosed. The cable includes a first circuit configured to receive electrical data signals from a data source via an input connector, and convert the electrical data signals into optical signals for transmission by way of one or more optical fibers. The cable includes a second circuit configured to convert the optical signals received via the one or more optical fibers back to electrical data signals for providing to a data sink via an output connector. The cable includes a third circuit for applying pre- and post-signal conditioning to bi-directional control data for transmission to and received from the data sink via wires. The cable includes a fourth circuit for applying pre- and post-signal conditioning to bi-directional control data for transmission to and received from the data source via wires. The pre- and post-signal conditioning compensate for capacitance and/or resistance effects on the signals introduced by the wires.

  • Patent number: 8929729
Abstract: An eye safety mechanism for use with a bi-directional data cable having an electrical interface at at least one (but potentially both) ends, despite the fact that the cable communicates over much of its length using a bi-directional optical channel. Upon power-up, the eye safety mechanism determines whether or not a loss of signal condition is present on an optical receive channel of the bi-directional data cable. If the loss of signal is present, the mechanism intermittently disables the optical transmit channel of the bi-directional data cable. On the other hand, if the loss of signal is not present, the mechanism enables the optical transmit channel of the bi-directional data cable without intermittently disabling transmission at least for most of the time until the next time a loss of signal is detected on the optical receive channel.
