  • Patent number: 7495073
Abstract: The present invention includes compositions including a novel short isoform of Annexin A10, termed Annexin 10s (ANXA10s) and methods of use. The compositions include nucleic acid molecules encoding ANXA10s, ANXA10s polypeptides, ANXA10s amino acid sequences and derivatives or modifications thereof. Included in these methods are the interrelation of the aberrant expressions of AFP, OPN, and the novel liver specific short isoform, ANXA10s, at human Chromosome 4q in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The aberrant expressions of AFP, OPN and ANXA10s are shown to act cooperatively toward advanced disease, which could be useful for diagnostic, molecular staging or treatment of a patient having HCC or at risk of developing HCC.

  • Publication number: 20090029177
Abstract: Highly water repellent coated articles may be made by applying to a substrate a coating having dispersed therein or sprinkled thereon partially or fully fluorinated polymer microparticles. The coating includes a partially fluorinated hexafluoropropylene copolymer binder in a nonfluorinated solvent that dissolves the binder and does not dissolve the microparticles. The coating is heated sufficiently to bond the microparticles to the binder but not so much as to cause the receding water contact angle for the coating to fall below 80°.

  • Publication number: 20090002394
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided methods and systems for augmenting image data (e.g., still image data or video image data) utilizing image context data to generate panoramic images. In accordance with embodiments hereof, a position and orientation of received image data is utilized to identify image context data (e.g., three-dimensional model data, two-dimensional image data, and/or 360° image data from another source) rendered based upon the same position or a nearby position relative to the image data and the image data is augmented utilizing the identified context data to create a panoramic image. The panoramic image may then be displayed (e.g., shown on a LCD/CRT screen or projected) to create a user experience that is more immersive than the original image data could create.

  • Publication number: 20090006227
Abstract: A investment portfolio accounting system and method are provided. The system determines the percentage ownership in a number of investment securities. The system flags securities according to predetermined accounting and business rules. Consolidating or derecognizing the security with others interests is also determined by the system in accordance with predetermined rules. In one example, the accounting system flags (or communicates) a determination to consolidate according to percentage ownership. System reports generated by the accounting system are chronicled in a reporting database for downstream accounting systems.

  • Publication number: 20080304953
Abstract: A containment system comprises at least one passage obstructer extending from a housing inlet cover through a diffuser passage and into a housing back cover. The passage obstructer includes a fastener portion, such as a bolt, and an obstructing portion extending from and integral to a shaft of the fastener portion. The diameter of the obstructing portion is less than the diameter of the shaft, allowing the obstructing portion to bend upon impact with a burst impeller fragment.

  • Patent number: 7461443
Abstract: An inner sleeve, having threads on each end, is formed on a motor or generator rotor. A pair of stub shafts are threadably attached to the inner sleeve at each end and a magnet is placed in between. The stub shafts are turned on the inner sleeve to bring them together, thereby creating an axial compressive force on the magnet. By keeping the magnet in a compressive state at all times, cracking of the magnet is prevented, thus keeping the rotor stable during use of the motor or generator. An outer sleeve is shrunk-fit around the magnet and stub shafts to provide a further radial force on the rotor. The magnet assembly of the present invention also enlarges the required radial shrink-fit tolerance of the outer sleeve on the magnet, thereby reducing costs conventionally required to match the outer sleeve to the magnet within close tolerances.

  • Patent number: 7353224
Abstract: Massive amounts of multimedia data are stored in databases supporting web pages and servers, including text, graphics, video and audio. Searching and finding matching multimedia images can be time and computationally intensive. A method for storing and retrieving image data includes computing a descriptor, such an a Fourier-Mellin Transform (FMT), corresponding to a multidimensional space indicative of each of the stored images and organizing each of the descriptors according to a set similarity metric. The set similarity metric is based on Locality-Sensitive Hashing (LSH), and orders descriptors near to other descriptors in the database. The set similarity metric employs set theory which allows distance between descriptors to be computed consistent with LSH. A target image for which a match is sought is then received, and a descriptor indicative of the target image is computed. The database is referenced, or mapped, to determine close matches in the database.
