  • Patent number: 8328531
Abstract: A scroll compressor comprises a first scroll member having a generally spiral wrap and a second scroll member having a generally spiral wrap. The generally spiral wraps interfit to define compression chambers. A pair of ports leads from the compression chambers. A pair of valves selectively blocks flow of refrigerant from the ports leaving the compression chambers. The valves selectively control the flow such that flow may pass from neither of the two ports, from both of the two ports, or from only one of the two ports to provide three levels of capacity control.

  • Publication number: 20120310455
Abstract: A method for controlling output torque of a hybrid powertrain system includes determining a constrained output torque in response to an operator torque request, and determining maximum and minimum output torque limits. A time-rate change in the constrained output torque at each of a plurality of torque breakpoints is determined A desired output torque is determined A preferred output torque is determined as the desired output torque adjusted using the time-rate changes in the constrained output torque at the plurality of torque breakpoints and limited within the maximum and minimum output torque limits. Torque outputs of torque generators of the hybrid powertrain system are controlled in response to the preferred output torque.

  • Patent number: 8308448
Abstract: A scroll compressor includes a compressor shell having first and second scroll members. The scroll members each have a base and a generally spiral wrap extending from its base. The generally spiral wraps of the first and second scroll members interfit to define compression chambers. A shaft causes the second scroll member to orbit relative to the first scroll member. At least one bypass port is formed in a base of one scroll member, and communicates with at least one of the compression chambers. The bypass port communicates with a passage leading to a suction pressure chamber within the compressor shell. A solenoid valve is movable between a reduced capacity position and a full capacity position, and selectively supplies a pressurized fluid to a fluid valve associated with the bypass port, such that movement of the solenoid can control whether the bypass port is open or closed.

  • Publication number: 20120266579
Abstract: A wire mesh mist collector pad having multiple density zones, the zones being arranged other than to provide a constantly increasing density gradient, provides a reduced pressure drop and increased capacity. For example, the pad can include at least three zones with the zones arranged so that the density gradient in the direction of gas flow through the pad varies from low to high to low or from high to low to high.

  • Patent number: 8293282
Abstract: Disclosed is a wood preservative composition comprising micronized copper and copper-amine complex, wherein the copper component of the copper amine complex is from about 5% to about 50% by weight, based upon the total weight of copper in the composition. The copper amine complex serves to avoid wood surface “chalking” that is otherwise attributable to the presence of micronized copper in copper-based slurries used to treat wood products. In addition, the copper-amine complex enhances the antimicrobial efficacy of the composition when used in wood treatment applications by facilitating cell wall penetration of the treated wood.

  • Publication number: 20120263049
Abstract: In one embodiment, a router selects a particular peer from an original update group used with an Exterior Gateway Protocol (EGP) such as Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). The original update group includes a plurality of peers of the router that share a same outbound policy and that receive common update messages, from the router, of routing table information. The router determines that the particular peer is a potential slow peer based on a first type of indicia, wherein a slow peer is a peer that cannot keep up with a rate at which the router generates update messages over a prolonged period of time. The router confirms that one or more second types of indicia are consistent with the particular peer being a slow peer. In response to the confirmation, the router determines that the particular peer is a slow peer.

  • Publication number: 20120134368
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method is provided at which it is used in a device. In this method, a logical identifier assigned to the device is identified and additionally, a mesh group identifier identifying a mesh group is identified. The logical identifier and the mesh group identifier are encoded in a routing message, which is used in an inter-domain routing protocol, and this routing message is transmitted to a reflector device in communication with the device. The reflector device is configured to transmit the routing message to a remote device included in the computer network.

  • Publication number: 20120111762
Abstract: Liquid collector trays (5) are disclosed for use in vertical towers (7) in which vapor (9) moves upward and liquid (11) moves downward. The liquid collector trays (5) employ elongated plates (13) which in certain embodiments include a primary liquid collector trough (15) and a secondary liquid collector trough (17). In other embodiments, the primary liquid collector troughs (15) of adjacent plates (13) are aligned so as to form elongated, inwardly-tapering entrance channels (29) which are free of sharp corners. In further embodiments, when the liquid collector tray (5) is in its operative orientation and is viewed from above, each plate (13) includes first and second concave surfaces (31, 33), which collect liquid, and third and fourth convex surfaces (35, 37), which are adjacent to the first and second concave surfaces (31, 33) and serve to mechanically stabilize the plate (13).

  • Publication number: 20120084325
Abstract: A method, system, apparatus, and article of manufacture is configured to merge hierarchies in a computer system. A relational database management system (RDBMS) stores information in the computer system. As part of a process and framework, a series of business rules and process workflows that manage data (that is hierarchical in nature) that resides in one or more RDBMS tables are maintained. A first and second hierarchy table are obtained/defined. A placeholder column that will contain mapping information may be defined with the database schema. User input is accepted that identifies data in the second table that maps to data in the first table. Based on the user input, the data in the second table is mapped to the data in the first table. The mapping is utilized to create a merged hierarchy in RDBMS.

  • Publication number: 20110303621
Abstract: A centrifuge is employed to continuously remove particulates from a fluid. In one embodiment, the centrifuge removes small particles of soot from lubricating oil of large diesel engines. The fluid in introduced into the centrifuge through an inducer so that vortexes are not propagated in the fluid. Flow constrainers and flow straighteners maintain laminar flow of the fluid as it passes axially through the centrifuge. An exducer decelerates the fluid prior to its exit from the centrifuge. The exducer thus contributes to maintaining laminar flow conditions. Laminar flow may contribute to the soot-removal effectiveness of the centrifuge.
