  • Patent number: 11428171
Abstract: A multi-spool turbomachine having an electric machine that can be controlled to input power to one of the spools of the turbomachine is provided. In one aspect, the multi-spool turbomachine can be a hybrid electric gas turbine engine for an aircraft. The hybrid electric gas turbine engine can include a first spool, a second spool, and an electric machine operatively coupled with the first spool. In response to an increase in thrust demand, the electric motor receives electrical power from an electrical power source. In turn, the electric machine applies a torque to the first spool, causing the first spool to increase in rotational speed. In this manner, the electric machine can electrically assist the turbomachine to meet the increase in thrust demand.

  • Patent number: 11412444
Abstract: Automatic neighbor relationships (ANR) can be implemented within a radio access network intelligent controller (RIC), which receives load information from network nodes and user equipment measurements from user equipment. The RIC can create and maintain real-time load information and leverage slicing knowledge of neighbor cells during mobility to direct the user equipment to various network slices. Thus, an enhanced radio access network (RAN) neighbor relationship that utilizes slicing information can provide slice level RAN neighbor visibility on top of physical ANR relationships to enable enhancements for mobility management optimization.

  • Publication number: 20220243069
Abstract: A process utilizes electron beam generated ionizing radiation or low energy electron irradiation to effect cure of polymerizable stain compositions applied to wood planking. The electron beam ionization process generates sufficient energy to break bonds and generate new cross-links within the polymeric stain composition thus bonding the stain strongly within the pores and surface of the wood planks further creating a durable treatment. The electron beam ionization process simplifies the curing process by eliminating or reducing the need for expensive photoinitiators. Pre-stained wood planking is suitable for exterior decking materials and building panels requiring a combination of color affected and durable finishes, thereby eliminating the need for field installation of pretreatments, stains, coatings and the like. These electron beam cured wood planks take on an assortment of appearances including clear, natural, translucent, and solid hues.

  • Publication number: 20220226810
Abstract: A microporous substrate for detection of surface bound target analyte molecules includes a microporous substrate material having opposed surfaces and tapered micropores extending through the substrate with the micropores having wider openings on one side of the substrate compared to the other side. The micropores have bound therein analyte specific receptors complementary to the target molecules. When a liquid sample containing the target analyte molecules with optical probes attached to the target molecules is flowed through the substrate, they bind to their complementary analyte specific receptors and emit light. This substrate structure gives an increase in the collection efficiency of light emitted from optical probes when the light is detected by a light detector spaced from the side of the substrate facing the larger micropores openings compared to a light collection efficiency of light emitted from the optical probes when the micropores are straight and not tapered.
