  • Patent number: 10153000
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recognizing and synchronizing to in-band data at a multimedia device is provided. A content stream includes in-band data. The in-band data is processed and in-band data pattern data associated with the content stream are created. Metadata are attached to the event identification data. The event identification data are provided to multimedia devices which receive broadcasted multimedia content streams containing video programs with in-band data. The in-band data are processed and compared to the event identification data. If a match occurs, the multimedia device uses the metadata to perform specified actions.

  • Patent number: 10147461
Abstract: Systems and methods for alerting users to differences between first and second media versions of a story are provided. Given a first version of the media asset, a first sequence of plot segments in the first version that collectively represent a story arc may be identified. A second version of the media asset may be processed to identify a second sequence of plot segments that collectively represent the story arc. The first sequence and second sequence of plot segments may be compared to identify a set of plot segments representing a difference between the sequences. In response to detecting that a user consuming the first version of the media asset has reached a given plot segment that represents a resolution to the story, a summary of the set of plot segments representing the difference between the first and second sequences may be generated for display.

  • Patent number: 10137646
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of preparing a polygon mesh for printing by a process of additive manufacturing includes the steps of receiving a model of an object to be printed in the form of a polygon mesh, converting the polygon mesh into a signed distance field which comprises voxels identified as interior or exterior to the object, the conversion including a process for resolving degeneracies in the model so that the signed distance field defines an outer surface that is an orientable manifold, and thus may exist in reality and an output step which converts the signed distance field to a format that facilitates additive manufacturing of the object.

  • Patent number: 10097879
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for extending the hardware of a digital video recorder (DVR) that records and stores media assets for a user to watch at a later time. For example, a media guidance application may predict a future physical location at which a user is scheduled to be located for a duration of time. The media guidance application may then cause the future location to form a local cloud storage for the user during the time when the user is located at the future location. The local cloud may be used to store one or more media assets transferred from the user's DVR to the established local cloud using the local storage hardware at the future location.

  • Publication number: 20180257681
Abstract: The traditional three piece railway freight truck prevents the wheel sets from achieving radial alignment to curves by the rigid side frames restraining the wheelsets. The side frames also constrain the wheelset from radial aligning to curves by the limited gap between the wheelset bearing and the side frame pedestal jaws. The present invention opens the side frame pedestal jaws to allow the wheel sets to yaw and align radially to curves. The side frame is supported on wheel sets by elastomeric pads and bearing adapters. The present invention utilizes the elastomeric pad stiffness to compress in pitch motion that allow the wheel set to move in an arc forward or backward in the open jaws of the side frame. The elastomeric pad stiffness also allows the wheelset to twist the pads allowing the wheelset to radially align to the curve. The pads elastic stiffness is sufficient to return when the wheelset is align to straight track.

A particle of material includes a first substance that includes at least one component that is a gas 25° C. and atmospheric pressure. A second substance, different from the first substance, encapsulates the first substance to create a droplet or emulsion that is stable at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. At least some of the first substance exists in a gaseous phase at the time of encapsulation of the first substance within the second substance to form a bubble. After formation of the bubble, the bubble is condensed into a liquid phase, which causes the bubble to transform into the droplet or emulsion having a core consisting of a liquid. The droplet or emulsion is an activatable phase change agent that remains a droplet having a core consisting of a liquid at 25° C. and atmospheric pressure.
