  • Publication number: 20120150568
Abstract: The present invention contemplates a risk management system for facilitating an e-commerce transaction wherein the participants to the transaction engage in commerce using different currencies. An automated sales risk management system facilitates a transaction by providing a price of a transaction which incorporates aggregated costs related to the transaction into a price made available to the participants. A currency risk management system can receive an amount relating to a deliverable involved in a transaction and determines an aggregated cost of the transaction. Aggregated cost can include a cost of credit, a cost for exchange of currency, a cost of insurance, processing fees, or other associated costs. Insurance can be monitored and a determination can be made regarding whether a participant has adequate insurance to cover a proposed transaction. The present invention also provides for risk associated with online transactions to be categorized and transferred.

  • Patent number: 8057994
Abstract: A method of investigating a DNA sample is provided involving taking at least two sub-samples from the sample, amplifying the sub-samples, analyzing the sub-samples to obtain identity information and amount of that identity about one or more alleles indicated as present in the sub-samples in respect of 5 or more loci and establishing identity information deemed representative of the sample from the sub-samples, wherein identity information from a sub-sample about a particular identity is included in the identity information deemed representative of the sample when that particular identity is indicated as present by one or more of the sub-samples analyzed, the amount of that particular identity in the identity information deemed representative of the sample being a weighted combination based on the amount of that particular identity in the sub-samples. In this way useful profiles can be obtained more often than they are at present, with reduced costs and with reduced expertise and time requirements.

  • Publication number: 20110262785
Abstract: A battery module that includes a battery unit composed of a plurality of flat cells and having an end face, a container with an end piece that encloses the battery unit, and a damping assembly disposed between the end face and the end piece. The damping assembly includes a pressure plate, coupled to the end face, that distributes a force substantially equally over the end face. The damping assembly further includes a damping mechanism that damps battery unit oscillations within the container and applies the force to the pressure plate. Coupling the end plate to the damping mechanism compresses the damping mechanism, and causes the damping mechanism to exert a reactionary force against the pressure plate. Furthermore, the damping assembly compresses and substantially suspends the battery unit within the container, such that one face of the battery unit does not substantially contact the container interior.
