The optical inspection device houses optical imaging components that acquire microscope visual images and acquire interference fringe images of a plurality of optical specimens along an optical path. The optical path is located along an optical axis of the optical inspection device. The interface is coupled to the optical inspection device and is configured to removably engage a polishing work holder that supports the plurality of optical specimens. The interface allows an optical specimen axis of each of the plurality of optical specimens and the optical axis of the optical inspection device to be aligned.

Abstract: An emergency lighting system for an aircraft comprises networked light units that communicate wirelessly with a master controller to switch the light units on in an emergency. Each unit has its own battery power source and is arranged conserve power consumption by cycling between an operable (awake) condition in which it can communicate with the master controller and an inoperable (sleep) condition wherein the wake-up time is approximately 1 millisecond or less. Power consumption is also reduced by employing LEDs as the light source and pulsing the LEDs with a variable load factor to adjust the illumination level.

Abstract: The method of pre-configuring the optical protect paths in an agile photonic network establishes a protection trail for each optical working path that may be set-up in the network. The pre-configuration is based on building an electrical layer (EXC) graph that takes into account all the connection demands in the network, and finding on this EXC graph a plurality of cycles. Next, the EXC cycles are validated at the optical layer, and are further validated against constraints. The method attempts to find an optimal cycles solution, without exhausting all possible variants.

Flexibility on the subtended metro network is obtained by either tuning the head-end transmitter on a metro wavelength that is the operating wavelength of the route to a specified tail-end node (tunable source, fixed wavelength-route dependency) or/and tuning a specified route to the metro wavelength (fixed source, tunable wavelength-route dependency).
