  • Publication number: 20040208558
Abstract: The is directed to extending wavelength routing on a metro network subtended off an optical agile network. Flexibility on the subtended metro network is obtained by either tuning the head-end transmitter on a metro wavelength that is the operating wavelength of the route to a specified tail-end node (tunable source, fixed wavelength-route dependency) or/and tuning a specified route to the metro wavelength (fixed source, tunable wavelength-route dependency). The routes may be tuned at one or both ends.

  • Publication number: 20040186790
Abstract: An Internet based method for ordering and supplying selected coded labels to be applied to a variety of fruits and vegetables at a plurality of labelling sites is provided. The supply of different coded labels at each labelling site is continuously and automatically inventoried. The inventorying is facilitated by the use of a data tag carried by the core on which a label strip is wound, the data tag including data sufficient to uniquely identify the labels carried by that core including the specific label identify and quantity. The label inventory for each of the labelling sites is stored. Approved customers or representatives may access the stored inventory data and display the data on a computer monitor and may order additional selected labels for one or more of the labelling sites.

  • Publication number: 20040167926
Abstract: A computer network has storage devices organized into X levels and storing element-group information. To determine whether an element is a member of any target groups, each target group is validated by searching the storage devices to find a target group item and, if found, placing the target group in a validated target bin (V). Also,, the element is validated by searching the storage devices to find an element item, and if found, determining from the item all groups that the element is listed as being a member of and placing such member-of groups in a search bin (S). If (S) intersects (V), the element is a member of a target group. If not, all groups in (S) are moved to a queue (Q1) corresponding to the storage device at level 1 and an iterative process searches for a membership path from the element to any target group.

  • Publication number: 20040168077
Abstract: An organization maintains a computer network comprising at least a forest A and a forest B, where forest A has a directory A and a querying entity A capable of querying directory A, and forest B has a directory B and a querying entity B capable of querying directory B. Querying entity A receives a request from the user and decides whether to grant the request based at least in part on whether the user is a member of the group. Thus, querying entity A queries directory A to return information on the group, is directed to forest B, contacts querying entity B, requests querying entity B to query directory B whether the user is a member of the group, receives a response, and grants the request from the user based at least in part on whether the user is a member of the group.

  • Publication number: 20040158731
Abstract: A licensor receives a request from the requestor, where the request includes rights data associated with digital content, and where the rights data lists at least one identifier and a set of rights associated therewith. The licensor selects the identifier and the set of rights associated therewith, where such rights are expected to be set forth in a corresponding digital license, and also selects based on the identifier an alternate set of rights. The alternate set of rights are substituted for the set of rights from the rights data, and the license is issued to the requestor with the alternate set of rights, whereby the alternate set of rights in the issued license sets forth terms and conditions that the requestor must adhere to in connection with rendering the corresponding content.

  • Publication number: 20040158709
Abstract: A licensor receives a request from a requestor including an identifier identifying the requestor and rights data associated with digital content, where the rights data lists at least one identifier and rights associated therewith. The licensor thereafter locates the identifier of the requestor in a directory, and locates in the directory based thereon an identifier of each group which the requestor is a member of. Each of the located requestor identifier and each located group identifier is compared to each identifier listed in the rights data to find a match, and a digital license to render the content is issued to the requestor with the rights associated with the matching identifier.

  • Publication number: 20040144070
Abstract: The invention provides cyclonic separating apparatus comprising an upstream cyclone unit and a downstream cyclone unit, the upstream cyclone unit including at least one cyclone having a first end and a second end, and the downstream cyclone unit including at least one cyclone having a first end and a second end. The upstream and downstream cyclone units of the cyclonic separation apparatus are arranged relative to one another so that the orientation of at least one cyclone of the downstream cyclone unit is substantially inverted with respect to the orientation of at least one cyclone of the upstream cyclone unit. The arrangement provides an apparatus in which good separation efficiency is achieved as well as low pressure drop across the apparatus as a whole.

  • Publication number: 20040128623
Abstract: A system and method for producing a patent specification has a form (100) with fields (110-180) for acquiring descriptions of different pieces of information concerning an invention. Respective portions of the acquired information are concatenated with predetermined text to form a prototype patent specification, which can be reviewed and revised as necessary by a patent attorney in order to produce a patent application for patent office filing. The form may be displayed on an internet website, the information may be transmitted over the internet and the prototype patent specification can be produced automatically. As part of this process a patent application form can also be produced automatically.

  • Publication number: 20040121464
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the generation of cells of mesodermal lineage. More particularly, the present invention contemplates a method for the preparation of differentiated or partially differentiated mesodermal cells and their use in tissue repair, regeneration and/or augmentation therapy. The identification and generation of the mesodermal cells further provides a source of transcriptome or proteome data to assess the expression profile of genes associated with the maintenance of mesodermal cells as well as their differentiation, proliferation, expansion and/or renewal potential.

  • Publication number: 20040120706
Abstract: The first step in isolating a soft fault within a transparent network is to determine which OMS trail is causing the fault. This can be accomplished by forcing regeneration at a flexibility point, which permits the estimation of the signal quality using a BER measurement. The preferred mechanism for segmenting Och faults to an OMS/trail is eavesdropping, using dedicated tunable filters and receivers or spare test tunable filters and receivers at network flexibility sites. Once the fault has been isolated to a specific OMS trail, analog tools are used to further isolate the fault down to a single replaceable module or fiber, using rapid measurement and correlation of relevant measured and pre-calculated expected performance data. In case of hard faults, to avoid superfluous alarm reports at connection termination points, the optical channel fault detector provides fault indications to downstream nodes using Forward Defect Indications (FDI) over the optical supervisory channel (OSC).
