  • Publication number: 20180242880
Abstract: Representative apparatus, method, and system embodiments are disclosed for non-invasive detection an ingested battery or magnet in a human or other animal subject. The various apparatus embodiments include one or more Hall effect sensors, arranged in a hand-held embodiment or arranged along a flexible strip having an adhesive. A calibration may be determined or reference or calibration field measurements may be generated. A flexible strip is arranged, or the hand-held embodiment is moved, over the esophagus of the subject to generate target magnetic field measurements. The presence of an ingested battery or magnet is detected when one or more target magnetic field measurements (or gradient) is or are greater than or equal to a first predetermined threshold, or when a sign reversal occurs for a difference between target and reference measurements. The various apparatus and system embodiments may also include a monitor for signal processing and display of results.

  • Patent number: 9717901
Abstract: A cochlear implant includes electrodes and a processor for generating frequency-modulated electrical pulse trains in one or more of the electrodes responsive to dividing data representing audio spanning frequency-bands into bins associated with each frequency-band, each bin representing an energy level of the data within the frequency-band within a time-period; associating each frequency-band with a phase probability that starts at an initial phase probability value (PPV), resets to a minimum PPV after generating a pulse, and increases from the minimum PPV to a maximum PPV over a time-period; for each bin, assigning a power probability as a normalized intensity being a number between a minimum power probability and a maximum power probability representing the energy level of the bin, and generating a pulse in an electrode associated with the frequency-band associated with the bin when a random number generated is less than the power probability divided by the phase probability.

  • Patent number: 9561515
Abstract: The present invention discloses a cold gas spraying gun with a powder injector for injecting a gas/powder mixture into a mixing chamber through which a process gas flows. One powder injector pipe of the powder injector is closed at one face end. A delivery opening for delivering the gas/powder mixture from the powder injector is designed as an opening in a side wall of the powder injector pipe. The delivery opening opens into the hollow chamber in the powder injector pipe at an axial distance from the closed face end of the powder injector pipe, and therefore a backed-up volume is located between the delivery opening and the closed end face of the powder injector pipe.

  • Patent number: 9289740
Abstract: A reformer tube processing and filling system is provided for ensuring uniformity of reformer tube flow rates and reactivity. The disclosed invention provides a system for detecting and removing tube obstructions, as well as an automated process for verifying the flow rate for each tube and identifying tubes with abnormal flow rates to remove a source of human error and conserve labor costs. An automated tube filling system provides a calibrated fill mechanism coordinated with a calibrated loading rope withdrawal mechanism to ensure loading consistency. A lack of vibrating parts ensures a low dust count, and what little dust is present is removed via a built-in vacuum outlet in the loader.
