  • Publication number: 20180254891
Abstract: In one or more embodiments, an encryption key of a device may be split into multiple segments. One of the segments may be retained by an owner of the device, and some of the segments may be distributed to multiple entities. For example, one of the segments may be provided to a service provider, and one of the segments may be provided to an escrow agent. The escrow agent may process its segment, provide information based on its segment to a public ledger, and destroy its segment. A proxy agent may retrieve, from the public ledger, the information based on the segment provided to the escrow agent and obtain compensation. When the proxy agent obtains the compensation, the public ledger exhibits information utilizable to obtain the segment provided to the escrow agent. With the segments provided to the escrow agent and the service provider, the encryption key may be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20180253587
Abstract: A fingerprint sensor system includes a fingerprint area sensor 130 having an array of pixels and a fingerprint processor 128 for processing a signal from the fingerprint area sensor 130. A process for calibration of this system comprises: determining a gain matrix of pixel gain values by performing a scan of the fingerprint area sensor 130 when it is presented with a homogenous target that covers all of the pixels; determining an offset noise matrix of pixel offset noise values by performing a scan of the fingerprint area sensor 130 when nothing is presented to the fingerprint area sensor 130; and arranging the fingerprint processor 128 to store the information from the gain matrix and the offset noise matrix as calibration information and to use this calibration information to correct fingerprint data obtained from the fingerprint area sensor 130 during later use of the fingerprint sensor 130.

  • Publication number: 20180253634
Abstract: An RFID device includes an antenna, a passive RFID communication module and a passive biometric authentication module. The passive RFID communication module is configured to transmit data to an RFID reader without the use of encryption where, the RFID device is configured such that initially power is supplied only to the passive biometric authentication module until the biometric authentication module 120 has verified the identity of a user, whereupon power is supplied to the passive RFID communication module 110 to permit communication, thus the RFID device is thus less vulnerable to sniffing attacks than conventional unencrypted RFID tags because the device will hold its data securely until an authorized biometric identifier is presented to it.

  • Patent number: 10069583
Abstract: A method and system are provided for synchronizing local clocks more quickly in a telecommunication network using IEEE 1588. A network element that receives timing signals from one or more possible parent clocks considers a measure of the reliability of the timing signals contained in Announce messages from the parent clock or clocks. The clock uses this reliability information in selecting one of the possible parent clock or clocks to use as the actual parent clock. Once the selection is made, the clock adjusts the filtering characteristics applied to timing signals received from the selected parent clock. The adjustments reflect how confident the parent clock is as to how stable the timing information it provides has become. If the indication of reliability contained in Announce messages received from the parent clock indicates that the timing information is not very reliable, then a high filter bandwidth is used in filtering the timing signals.
