  • Patent number: 10711898
Abstract: The present application pertains to a braided dual-sided compression packing seal, methods for producing and using such a seal, and apparatuses suitable for producing such a seal. The braided dual-sided compression packing seal is made up of two or more different materials that are braided together in such a way that, in cross-section, the compression packing seal has an asymmetrical configuration relative to a first axis that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and is substantially perpendicular to a side of the compression packing seal. Accordingly, when viewed in a cross-sectional plane, the compression packing seal may expose substantially only a first material along a first side of the seal, and substantially only a second material along a second side of the seal.

  • Publication number: 20200211744
Abstract: Described herein are concepts, system and techniques which provide a means to construct robust high-field superconducting magnets using simple fabrication techniques and modular components that scale well toward commercialization. The resulting magnet assembly—which utilizes non-insulated, high temperature superconducting tapes (HTS) and provides for optimized coolant pathways—is inherently strong structurally, which enables maximum utilization of the high magnetic fields available with HTS technology. In addition, the concepts described herein provide for control of quench-induced current distributions within the tape stack and surrounding superstructure to safely dissipate quench energy, while at the same time obtaining acceptable magnet charge time. The net result is a structurally and thermally robust, high-field magnet assembly that is passively protected against quench fault conditions.

  • Patent number: 10674358
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for generating, delegating, and/or authenticating hierarchical globally unique identifier (HGUID) certificates that are arranged in domain-name form to permit delegation and authentication as a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). A first hierarchical device certificate is obtained that includes at least part of a first unique device identifier for a first device and a base domain name, wherein the first hierarchical device certificate includes a fully qualified domain name and the first unique device identifier includes at least one of a type/model identifier or an origin/manufacturer of the first device. The first hierarchical device certificate is sent to an authenticating device to prove the first device has authority to perform a transaction within a restricted domain as defined by the first hierarchical device certificate. An indication may then be received from the authenticating device that the first device has been authenticated to perform the transaction.
