  • Patent number: 11999269
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to vehicles capable of autonomous driving. These vehicles may include seats for accommodating different numbers of passengers. In some cases, the seats may be reconfigurable. For instance, a vehicle may include a first row of seating having a first, passenger use configuration. The first row may allow a passenger to sit in a seat of the first row of seating and access user input controls for the vehicle. The first row of seating may also have a second, folded configuration where the first row is in a folded configuration and no longer usable for passenger seating. The vehicle may also have a second row of seating. When the first row of seating is in the second, folded configuration, the second row of seating may still be usable for seating and may include additional legroom for the passenger as compared to when the first row of seating is in the first passenger use configuration.

  • Publication number: 20240013478
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for processing a 3D scene are presented. Techniques are disclosed for determining light source locations, including tracking a current viewpoint of a camera capturing object(s) in a 3D scene and determining a reference viewpoint relative to the current viewpoint of the camera. According to aspects, a light source location is determined by obtaining a registered map of real cast shadows of the object(s) from an input image captured by the camera, registered with respect to the reference viewpoint. Then, for candidates of light sources, obtaining respective maps of virtual shadows of the object(s) created with respect to the reference viewpoint, and determining the location of the light source based on the candidates of light sources with respective maps of virtual shadows that match the registered map of real cast shadows.

  • Publication number: 20230394749
Abstract: Estimating lighting conditions in a mixed reality scene is a challenging task. Adding shadows cast by virtual objects in the scene contributes significantly to the user experience. To this end, there is proposed, among others, a method for an autonomously movable device having a camera. The device may move to a first position in the scene and capture a first image of a shadow of the device cast by a light source. The device may move to a second position in the scene and capture a second image of a shadow of the device cast by a light source. Features of the light source may be determined at each of the first and the second positions, and a lighting model may be determined for the scene based on the determined features of the light source in the scene.

  • Publication number: 20230103081
Abstract: According to embodiments, a scene modelling system may (e.g., initially) obtain and (e.g., subsequently) update a model of a scene based on data describing the scene. The data describing the scene may be received from any of sensors and objects, for example, located in the scene. The scene may comprise a set of connected and unconnected objects. An object may be associated with its own part of the model that may have been built, for example in an initialization phase. A connected object may transmit its (e.g., part of) model to the scene modelling system (e.g., on demand or upon detection of any change). An unconnected object (e.g., and its status) may be recognized in the scene from an image of the object, for example, captured in the scene.
