  • Publication number: 20180075660
Abstract: In order to blur a virtual object in a video in real time as the video is acquired by a device capturing a real scene, a salient idea is used which estimates an apparent motion vector between two successive images, being captured at two successive device poses, in which the apparent motion vector estimation is based on a motion of the device. The successive images are then filtered based on the estimated apparent motion vector.

  • Patent number: 9855860
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to vehicles capable of autonomous driving. These vehicles may include seats for accommodating different numbers of passengers. In some cases, the seats may be reconfigurable. For instance, a vehicle may include a first row of seating having a first, passenger use configuration. The first row may allow a passenger to sit in a seat of the first row of seating and access user input controls for the vehicle. The first row of seating may also have a second, folded configuration where the first row is in a folded configuration and no longer usable for passenger seating. The vehicle may also have a second row of seating. When the first row of seating is in the second, folded configuration, the second row of seating may still be usable for seating and may include additional legroom for the passenger as compared to when the first row of seating is in the first passenger use configuration.

  • Publication number: 20170337741
Abstract: A method and device for rendering a scene including one or more real objects is described. A virtual object is associated with each real object, a virtual object associated with a real object corresponding to a virtual replica of this real object. The virtual replica is used to render a transformation that may be applied to the real object when for example hit by a virtual object, the virtual object then replacing the corresponding real object within the scene. To bring realism to the scene, texture information obtained from image(s) of the real object(s) is used to texture the visible part(s) of the transformed virtual object(s). The texture information is selected in the images by using information on the visibility of the parts of the real object(s) that correspond to the visible parts of the transformed virtual object(s).

  • Publication number: 20170084075
Abstract: A method and system for three dimensional presentation of two dimensional images in a video sequence having a plurality of frames is provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises identifying a plurality of points to be presented in three dimensional images and performing a color and depth sequence analysis for each of these points. A profile is then generated profiles for each of the points based on the analysis. The profiles are classified as variable profiles or constant profiles and a surface reflectance is calculated for each of the points having a constant profile. Method also comprises modifying the two dimensional images to present as three dimensional images for points having a constant profile, wherein the images maintain uniform color and appearance between adjacent frames along said video sequence.

  • Publication number: 20170082720
Abstract: A method, apparatus and system for estimating reflectance parameters and a position of the light source(s) of specular reflections of a scene include RGB sequence analysis with measured geometry in order to estimate specular reflectance parameters of an observed 3D scene. Embodiments include pixel-based image registration from which profiles of 3D scene points image intensities over the sequence are estimated. A profile is attached to a 3D point and to the set of pixels that display its intensity in the registered sequence. Subsequently, distinction is made between variable profiles that reveal specular effects and constant profiles that show diffuse reflections only. Then, for each variable profile diffuse reflectance is estimated and subtracted from the intensity profile to deduce the specular profile and the specular parameters are estimated for each observed 3D point. Then, the location of at least one light source responsible for the specular effects is estimated.

  • Patent number: 9538179
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for processing occlusions in motion estimation are described. For processing an occlusion in a forward motion field of a second frame relative to a first frame the forward motion field of the second frame relative to the first frame is determined with a motion estimator. Then an area in the second frame that is occluded in the first frame is identified with an occlusion identifier. Finally, a motion corrector determines a corrected forward motion field by filling the forward motion field in the identified area in the second frame using motion vectors of a previous backward motion field of the second frame relative to a previous third frame.

  • Patent number: 9437010
Abstract: A method for generating a motion field between a current frame and a reference frame belonging to a video sequence from an input set of elementary motion fields is disclosed. The method comprises performed for each pixel belonging to said current frame: determining a plurality of candidate motion vectors between the current frame and the reference frame wherein each candidate motion vector is the result of the sum of a first motion vector between the current frame and an intermediary frame belonging to the video sequence and of a second motion vector between the intermediary frame and the reference frame; and selecting a motion vector among candidate motion vectors. The method is remarkable in that elementary motion fields are obtained with different time intervals between pairs of frames and in that the first motion vector belongs to the input set of elementary motion fields and the second motion vector belongs to a set of previously selected motion vectors for other current frames of the video sequence.

  • Publication number: 20160180545
Abstract: A method and an electronic device for object tracking in a sequence of light-field captures. A data acquisition unit acquires a sequence of light-field captures, wherein each light-field capture comprises a plurality of views. A feature determining unit determines features of an initial visual appearance model for an object of interest in a reference view of a first light-field capture. A feature matching unit matches the features in the reference view and in the further views of the first light-field capture. A feature discarding unit discards features that cannot be well matched in all views of the first light-field capture. An appearance model building unit builds an updated visual appearance model for the object of interest based on the remaining features. Finally, a movement tracking unit tracks the movement of the object of interest in the sequence of light-field captures using the visual appearance model.
