    Abstract: An electrical signal detection module includes a photoelectrical signal application circuitry, an operational amplifier, a gain control circuitry and a master control circuitry. The gain control circuitry includes at least two gain control sub-circuitries connected in parallel to each other, and a discharge switching sub-circuitry connected in parallel to the gain control sub-circuitries. Each gain control sub-circuitry includes a gain switching sub-circuitry and a gain capacitive sub-circuitry connected in series to each other. The master control circuitry is configured to apply a discharge switching signal to the discharge switching sub-circuitry, and apply a gain switching control signal to the corresponding gain switching sub-circuitry. The gain switching sub-circuitry is configured to control a first end and a second end of the gain switching sub-circuitry to be electrically connected to each other in accordance with the gain switching control signal.

    Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for characterizing a subterranean formation that involve the generation of a 3D geological model of the formation. The 3D geological model can be used in conjunction with a fluid-flow simulator to generate a first 3D resistivity distribution. A second 3D resistivity distribution can be generated based on electromagnetic survey data of the formation. The 3D geological model can be updated based on differences between the first and second 3D resistivity distributions. The simulation and subsequent update to the 3D geological model can be repeated until differences between the first and second 3D resistivity distributions satisfy a stopping criterion. Data characterizing properties of the formation can be extracted from the resulting 3D geological model.

    Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for implementing a framework to learn multiple drug-adverse drug reaction associations. The mechanisms receive and analyze patient electronic medical record data and adverse drug reaction data to identify co-occurrences of references to drugs with references to adverse drug reactions (ADRs) to thereby generate candidate rules specifying multiple drug-ADR relationships. The mechanisms filter the candidate rules to remove a subset of one or more rules having confounder drugs specified in the subset of one or more candidate rules, and thereby generate a filtered set of candidate rules. The mechanisms further generate a causal model based on the filtered set of candidate rules. The causal model comprises, for each ADR in a set of ADRs, a corresponding set of one or more rules, each rule specifying a combination of drugs having a causal relationship with the ADR.

    Abstract: A phase decoding method and apparatus for quantum key distribution based on reflection with an orthogonal rotation of polarization, and a corresponding system. The method comprises: splitting an input optical pulse of an arbitrary polarization state into two optical pulses by a beam splitter; and, transmitting the two optical pulses respectively along two optical paths, with a relative time delay applied to them, and then reflecting them back to the beam splitter respectively by two reflecting devices to be combined and output by the beam splitter. A phase modulation is performed on at least one of the two optical pulses according to a quantum key distribution protocol, and two orthogonal polarization states of the optical pulse are reflected with an orthogonal rotation of polarization, so that each orthogonal polarization state of the optical pulse, after being reflected by the corresponding reflecting device, is transformed to a polarization state orthogonal thereto.
