  • Publication number: 20070122001
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for real-time Bayesian 3D pose tracking. In one implementation, exemplary systems and methods formulate key-frame based differential pose tracking in a probabilistic graphical model. An exemplary system receives live captured video as input and tracks a video object's 3D pose in real-time based on the graphical model. An exemplary Bayesian inter-frame motion inference technique simultaneously performs online point matching and pose estimation. This provides robust pose tracking because the relative pose estimate for a current frame is simultaneously estimated from two independent sources, from a key-frame pool and from the video frame preceding the current frame. Then, an exemplary online Bayesian frame fusion technique infers the current pose from the two independent sources, providing stable and drift-free tracking, even during agile motion, occlusion, scale change, and drastic illumination change of the tracked object.

  • Publication number: 20070104371
Abstract: A system and method is described for providing an encoding scheme for a bit stream and displaying or printing the encoded bit stream. Using the encoded bit stream, a pen with a camera may capture an image of a portion of the encoded bit stream. The captured image may then be decoded to provide an indication of the location of the image in relation to the encoded bit stream. The encoding scheme includes information regarding orientation, thus making decoding easier.

  • Patent number: 7212355
Abstract: An image pick-up lens system includes an aperture stop (10), a biconvex first lens (20), and a meniscus-shaped second lens (30) having a concave surface on a side of an object. The aperture stop, the first lens and the second lens are aligned in that order from the object side to an image side. Each of the lenses has at least one aspheric surface, and both lenses are made from a same plastic or a resin. The system satisfies the following condition: (1) 1<T/f<1.7, wherein f is a focal length of the system, and T is a length from the aperture stop to an image pick-up surface of the image side. The first condition (1) limits the total length of the system in order to provide compactness. The system also satisfies other conditions (2)–(5) as disclosed, in order to provide compactness and cost-effectiveness and to correct fundamental aberrations.

  • Publication number: 20070091085
Abstract: Systems and methods perform automatic 3D face modeling. In one implementation, a brief video clip of a user's head turning from front to side provides enough input for automatically achieving a model that includes 2D feature matches, 3D head pose, 3D face shape, and facial textures. The video clip of the user may be of poor quality. In a two layer iterative method, the video clip is divided into segments. Flow-based feature estimation and model-based feature refinement are applied recursively to each segment. Then the feature estimation and refinement are iteratively applied across all the segments. The entire modeling method is automatic and the two layer iterative method provides speed and efficiency, especially when sparse bundle adjustment is applied to boost efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7173937
Abstract: A technique for address registration and resolution is disclosed. In one embodiment, the technique is realized by an address registration and resolution service that is applicable to in-band in-fiber, out-of-band in-fiber and out-of-band out-of-fiber O-UNI signaling configurations. Through this address registration and resolution scheme, an optical service subscriber or optical access service provider can register various client-layer addresses (i.e., establish an association between the client addresses and the optical network points of attachment for the network intelligence.) An intelligent optical routing protocol will propagate this information all over the network and use this information to locate a corresponding optical client device and the optical network point of attachment. The optical network signaling can then perform the network internal signaling for on-demand optical service provisioning.

  • Patent number: 7171450
Abstract: A method that enables multiple spam detection solutions to be deployed in a manageable and rational manner to determine if a message is spam is presented. A framework invokes one or more anti-spam filters to analyze the message and return a confidence level of whether a message is spam and that confidence level is added to a summary of confidence levels. The framework evaluates a summary of confidence levels against a set of defined thresholds. If the summary of confidence levels is greater than the highest threshold set by the administrator, the action specified for the highest threshold is taken. Otherwise, subsequent filters are used to evaluate the message until either the maximum threshold is exceeded or all filters have evaluated the message. After all filters have evaluated the message, the summary of confidence levels is compared against all thresholds and the action associated with that matching threshold is taken.

  • Publication number: 20070001950
Abstract: A method and system for presenting data on a medium for capture by an input device is described. The method embeds a symbol design, such as an embedded interaction code (EIC), in an image on a display screen, such as a liquid crystal display (LCD). A grid with a plurality of pixels defines a size of an EIC pattern on an LCD. An area of the grid is used to embed position data and/or metadata information. The area may be defined by a sub-pixel of the plurality of pixels and/or the edges of the grid itself. The sub-pixel with the EIC pattern may be configured to have a grey value based upon a color of an underlying image associated with an application program being displayed on the LCD. The method also allows for decoding of the position data and/or metadata information in the EIC pattern on the LCD.
