  • Patent number: 7421439
Abstract: Global metadata, such as a document identifier, which may be a globally unique identifier, is embedded into an embedded interactive code document by combining a first m-array and a plurality of copies of the first m-array to generate a combined m-array with encoded global metadata such that respective start positions (xd,yd)i of the plurality of copies of the first m-array in the combined m-array are each shifted, by respective amounts that are based on respective portions of the global metadata, relative to a start position of the first m-array in the combined m-array. Global metadata may be decoded from the combined m-array by determining the respective amounts by which the plurality of copies of the first m-array are shifted, relative to the first m-array, in the combined m-array and by combining the respective amounts to produce a decoded value of the global metadata.

  • Patent number: 7400589
Abstract: A routing tree that spans a graph representing a network is constructed by iteratively expanding the tree to include a node of the graph that is not in the tree, the node being chosen because an allowable path extends from a root of the tree to the node that is optimal in comparison with the other paths to the other nodes not in the tree. If the path to the node cannot be extended to a node in the serial restriction group, the node is re-included in the tree using a secondary path to the node that can be extended to a node in the serial restriction group, if the secondary path is most optimal among the paths to nodes outside of the tree.

  • Publication number: 20080163714
Abstract: A shifter mechanism includes a shift lever movable along a shift path and a detent assembly. The detent assembly includes a detent profile defining a plurality of gear positions, a bore, a detent plunger located at least partially within the bore, a spring member resiliently biasing the detent plunger into engagement with the detent profile, a split bushing located between the detent plunger and the bore, and a spacer located between the spring member and the bushing. The bushing is located between the spacer and an abutment of the detent plunger, and the spring member is located between the spacer and an abutment of the bore. Contact surfaces between the bushing and the abutment and between the bushing and the spacer are each angled so that a force of the spring member automatically expands the bushing to remove any free-play formed between the detent plunger and the bore.

  • Patent number: 7385998
Abstract: A network element employing a universal mapper enables multiple services to be mapped onto a physical medium (metallic link with a particular physical layer protocol) so that the number of service mappers, and hence the complexity of the network element, may be reduced, the cost of provisioning the device may be reduced, and new services may be deployed, such as Ethernet over T1. The universal mapper may be configured to generate frames for transmission over multiple physical mediums utilizing a protocol known as Generic Framing Procedure (GFP). Using this embodiment, services such as ATM, Frame Relay, Ethernet, IP/PPP, Voice, and Infiniband may be transported in GFP frames over metallic links operating using xDSL, T1/E1, T3/E3, or cable access technologies by utilizing a single GFP framer and a single set of service mappers.

  • Patent number: 7382738
Abstract: A method and apparatus for associating metric information with an abstracted link of an abstracted network map that includes certain network elements (NEs) of a data transport network involves computing routes through the data transport network between the NEs of the abstracted network map. The routes may be computed using the shortest widest path algorithm. The routes from an NE are exchanged with the other NEs of the abstracted network map, so that an edge NE receives the resource availability information of all optimal routes between pairs of NEs in the abstracted network map. The edge NE then transforms the resource availability of a corresponding optimal route into metric information of an abstracted link. The metric information is sent to a client associated with the abstracted network map to permit the client to make routing decisions.

  • Publication number: 20080098849
Abstract: A shifter mechanism includes a housing, a yoke assembly having a shifter lever and pivotably secured to the housing along a shift path, and a gate cover secured to the housing and forming a slot. The shifter lever extends through the slot to define the shift path. The gate cover is a unitary component formed separate from the housing. The gate cover provides a gate profile and a secondary detent profile. By changing the gate cover alone, a shifter mechanism with different shifter lever travel or a different type of shifter mechanism can be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20080092608
Abstract: A locking mechanism for a shift lever includes a detent member movable along a path, a stopper member movable between a locking position to block movement of the detent member and an unlocking position to permit movement of the detent member, and a cam member carried by the stopper member and pivotable relative to the stopper member. In one embodiment, a spring member resiliently biases the stopper member toward the locking position. An electromagnetic solenoid permits relative movement between the cam member and the stopper member when unenergized and prevents relative movement between the cam member and the stopper member when energized. The cam member applies a force to the stopper member to move the stopper member toward the unlocking position in response to movement of the detent member along the predetermined path when the electromagnetic solenoid is energized.

  • Patent number: 7349554
Abstract: Processes and apparatuses analyze an image of maze pattern in order to extract bits encoded in the maze pattern. Grid lines of a maze pattern are determined. Directions for effective pixels of associated bars are estimated and are grouped into clusters. Lines are estimated for selected effective pixels of a selected cluster that is associated with a first principal direction. Grid lines of another cluster are determined, where the other cluster is associated with a second principal direction that is perpendicular with the first principal direction. Estimated lines are pruned based on slope variation analysis, grouped based on a distance analysis, and a best fit line is selected from each group. Affine parameters are determined from best fit lines. The correct orientation of a maze pattern is obtained by determining a type of missing corner of the maze pattern. Bits are extracted from the image of maze pattern by processing gray level values of the associated maze pattern cells.

  • Publication number: 20080059867
Abstract: The present decoding technique provides an efficient technique for decoding linear block codes from multiple encoders. When an error in a code sequence is detected, the decoding technique estimates a confidence for each bit within the code sequence. Based on the confidence, a subset of bits within the code sequence is obtained. The subset of bits is then incrementally flipped to determine a set of modified code sequences. A syndrome is computed for each of the modified code sequences based on a preceding computed syndrome and an update vector.

  • Publication number: 20080025612
Abstract: Systems and methods that determine a path of a pen tip as the pen tip is moved across a document are described. The document is watermarked with a maze pattern from which encoded position information is determined. A sequence of images is captured by a camera that is located in a pen. The path of the pen tip is determined by decoding the associated maze pattern and by matching the captured images with document images. If the position coordinates of any frame that is associated with a stroke cannot be determined from m-array decoding, the frames are transformed and then matched with an area of a document image. Once the position coordinates of at least one frame is determined, the position coordinates of other frames are determined by matching the frames in a neighboring area.
