  • Publication number: 20210356481
Abstract: Systems and methods for guiding the management of blood/plasma screening laboratory workflow are disclosed. A system for analyzing biological samples can include centrifuges, pooling devices, biological sample analyzing devices, and a processor to monitor operation of the centrifuges, the pooling devices, and the biological sample analyzing devices. The processor can track the progress of the biological samples and generate progress indications In response to determining that an external control is present, the system can prevent release of the biological component to the biological sample analyzing device until the external control is also loaded into the analyzer. In response to a component of a biological sample being grouped into more than one pool or not intended to be pooled, the system can generate a warning. The system can provide a chronology of states, display the status of instruments/biological samples, indicate what components need operator attention, and search the status of samples/tests.

  • Publication number: 20200405510
Abstract: Described herein are flexible implantable occluding devices that can, for example, navigate the tortuous vessels of the neurovasculature. The occluding devices can also conform to the shape of the tortuous vessels of the vasculature. In some embodiments, the occluding devices can direct blood flow within a vessel away from an aneurysm or limit blood flow to the aneurysm. Some embodiments describe methods and apparatus for adjusting, along a length of the device, the porosity of the occluding device. In some embodiments, the occluding devices allows adequate blood flow to be provided to adjacent structures such that those structures, whether they are branch vessels or oxygen-demanding tissues, are not deprived of the necessary blood flow.

  • Publication number: 20200206737
Abstract: Systems and methods for conducting designated reactions that include a fluidic network having a sample channel, a reaction chamber, and a reservoir. The sample channel is in flow communication with a sample port. The system also includes a rotary valve that has a flow channel and is configured to rotate between first and second valve positions. The flow channel fluidically couples the reaction chamber and the sample channel when the rotary valve is in the first valve position and fluidically couples the reservoir and the reaction chamber when the rotary valve is in the second valve position. A pump assembly induces a flow of a biological sample toward the reaction chamber when the rotary valve is in the first valve position and induces a flow of a reaction component from the reservoir toward the reaction chamber when the rotary valve is in the second valve position.

  • Publication number: 20200113716
Abstract: A method of reducing blood flow within an aneurysm includes: injecting a contrast agent into a blood vessel including an aneurysm; expanding a stent, from a delivery device, across the aneurysm; and confirming that a stagnated area forms in the aneurysm. The stagnated area can form a crescent shape, a mushroom shape, a hemispherical shape, and/or a flat side. Upon confirming that the stagnated area forms in the aneurysm, the delivery device can be withdrawn from the blood vessel. The stagnated area can include the contrast agent. If the stagnated area does not form in the aneurysm, a second occluding device may be deployed. After withdrawing the delivery device, substantially all of the aneurysm progressively thromboses.

  • Patent number: 10613855
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing data. During operation, the system obtains a user-defined function (UDF) that is defined using a standard UDF interface for accessing multiple platforms. Next, the system converts data in a platform into a standard form that is supported by the standard UDF interface using a platform-specific wrapper for the UDF and a platform-specific implementation of the standard UDF interface. The system then generates output data in the standard form by applying one or more operations to the data in the standard form. Finally, the system converts the output data into a platform-specific form that is supported by the platform and returns the output data in the platform-specific form.
