  • Patent number: 8549747
Abstract: A method for producing a tubular catalytic converter, which includes a monolith wrapped in a mat and is disposed in a housing, includes forming a stepped longitudinal fold on a longitudinal side of a housing blank, wherein the longitudinal side on both sides of the fold to be formed is clamped by electrodes of opposite polarity across the fold. Electrode pairs on one side of the fold to be formed are then offset with respect to electrodes on the other side of the fold and the electrodes of opposite polarity move closer together, while a current is flowing between the electrodes of opposite polarity, heating the material in the fold. Opposing longitudinal sides of the tubular housing are then materially joined along the stepped longitudinal fold with the overlap to produce the housing for the tubular catalytic converter.

  • Patent number: 8523979
Abstract: A process for removing acid gases from a fluid stream in which a) the fluid stream is treated with an absorption liquid which comprises at least one amine, a stripping aid, and water, wherein the stripping aid is selected from water-miscible liquids, the boiling temperature of which at atmospheric pressure is lower than that of water, b) the treated fluid stream is treated with a liquid aqueous phase in order to convert entrained stripping aid at least in part to the aqueous phase, c) the loaded aqueous phase is heated in order to expel the stripping aid at least in part, and d) the regenerated aqueous phase is cooled and at least in part recycled to step b). • Publication number: 20130127393
Abstract: A wind operated electricity generating system for decreasing wind resistance of a moving vehicle and harvesting energy from the air encountered, comprises a box portion having a front opening, a rear opening and an inside compartment. When a vehicle is moving, air is funneled through the increasingly narrow inside compartment. The air is directed through a series of vanes to a plurality of blade of a multiple turbines that are thereby caused to rotate. The turbines are in turn mechanically connected to electromechanical generators, which generate electricity to be supplied to the vehicle. The electricity generated is stored in battery packs that may be utilized for propulsion of the vehicle. The electromechanical generator speed is controlled under a safe rotational speed by a braking mechanism attached to a shaft of the electromechanical generator.
