  • Patent number: 8250850
Abstract: A pollution-free propulsion engine includes a rotating arm, a hollow axle defining a fuel delivery chamber, and hydrogen and oxygen sources. The rotating arm is formed with a detonation chamber, an opening and two tubular ducts therebetween. The axle is inserted into the opening. A pair of holes is formed in the axle to establish paths of fluid communication from the fuel delivery chamber through the ducts and into the detonation chamber as the rotating arm turns. The hydrogen source comprises a thin palladium binding layer deposited onto an aluminum sheet. Hydrogen molecules that are trapped in the binding layer are released, and the hydrogen is fed into the delivery chamber, through one duct and into the detonation chamber. At the same time, oxygen is delivered into the detonation chamber through the other duct, and the oxygen-hydrogen combination is detonated to release energy, which is converted into mechanical energy.

  • Publication number: 20120180974
Abstract: A Method of Producing a hybrid tile metal matrix composite armor is disclosed. First, dense ceramic plates are placed within the mold cavity and may rest on spacer(s) that separate the bottom surface of the ceramic plates from the base of the mold cavity to create a space therebetween. The plates are further positioned within the mold cavity to create a controlled space between any adjacent plates. A second set of spacers may be placed on the plates top surface to create a space between the mold cavity cover and the ceramic plates top surface. A plurality of ceramic plates and spacers may also be stacked into multiple layers according to the shape of the mold cavity and desired ballistic resistance. The mold cavity is next infiltrated with liquid metal under pressure forming a hybrid metal matrix composite structure with an encapsulating aluminum rich skin.

  • Patent number: 8177941
Abstract: A hydrogen storage and recovery system includes a substrate having embedded hydrogen molecules and a grid of cells. Each cell includes an electron source for directing electrons onto the substrate, two orthogonal magnetic or electric fields that are oriented so that the electrons pass through both magnetic fields prior to striking the substrate, and an ion guide. A voltage source establishes a potential for the electrons that is equal to the ionization potential of the hydrogen molecules, so that hydrogen molecules are ionized when the electrons impinge on the substrate. The magnetic fields can be manipulated to deflect, or change, the direction of said electrons passing through the fields, so that electrons strike the substrate at different locations, which allows for more recovery of the embedded hydrogen molecules from the substrate. The ion guide uses an applied electric field to draw hydrogen ions that have been ionized for subsequent storage.

  • Patent number: 8132493
Abstract: A lightweight armor system may comprise multiple reinforcement materials layered within a single metal matrix casting. These reinforcement materials may comprise ceramics, metals, or other composites with microstructures that may be porous, dense, fibrous or particulate. Various geometries of flat plates, and combinations of reinforcement materials may be utilized. These reinforcement materials are infiltrated with liquid metal, the liquid metal solidifies within the material layers of open porosity forming a dense hermetic metal matrix composite armor in the desired product shape geometry. The metal infiltration process allows for metal to penetrate throughout the overall structure extending from one layer to the next, thereby binding the layers together and integrating the structure.

  • Publication number: 20120047008
Abstract: A computer implemented method and system for selectively distributing rewards to a user is provided. A rewards management platform is provided for managing the rewards of the user. The rewards management platform compensates the user with the rewards based on one or more activities, for example, confirming viewing of multimedia content, referring the multimedia content to other users, etc., performed by the user on the rewards management platform. The user selects one or more of multiple deposit accounts associated with the user via a graphical user interface for allocating one or more of the rewards. Each of the deposit accounts is associated with a conversion rate. The rewards management platform establishes an electronic connection to each of the selected deposit accounts via a communication network. The rewards management platform distributes the allocated rewards to the selected deposit accounts based on the conversion rate via the established electronic connection.

  • Publication number: 20110307306
Abstract: A computer implemented method and system is provided for confirming viewing of multimedia content on a client device. A challenge generator generates a challenge stream comprising multiple challenges, random in content. The challenge stream and the multimedia content stream are integrated in real time to generate a challenge in real time. The challenge is random in content and new each time the same multimedia content is played on one or more client devices. The challenge is presented to a viewer at random times during and/or after play of the multimedia content, and/or presented at random physical locations on the multimedia content, by overlaying the challenge on the multimedia content. A response for the presented challenge is invoked from the viewer, based on which a response report is generated. The viewer is credited with an item of value, if the response report confirms that the viewer viewed the multimedia content.

  • Publication number: 20110241478
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating electricity by electromagnetic induction, using a magnetic field modulated by the formation, dissipation, and movement of vortices produced by a vortex material such as a type II superconductor. Magnetic field modulation occurs at the microscopic level, facilitating the production of high frequency electric power. Generator inductors are manufactured using microelectronic fabrication, in at least one dimension corresponding to the spacing of vortices. The vortex material fabrication method establishes the alignment of vortices and generator coils, permitting the electromagnetic induction of energy from many vortices into many coils simultaneously as a cumulative output of electricity.
