  • Publication number: 20080242212
Abstract: A register assembly for augmenting the flow of conditioned air from a central air-conditioning unit to a room includes a fan, a temperature sensor, and a processing means. The fan is operably positioned for increasing air flow through the register assembly. The temperature sensor is for measuring a temperature of air in the register assembly and for outputting a measured temperature signal. The processing means is for: receiving the measured temperature signal; using the measured temperature signal in determining whether the central air-conditioning unit is providing conditioned air to the room; and activating the fan to augment the conditioned air flow if the central air-conditioning unit is providing conditioned air to the room. The processing means also provides drift compensation to prevent unwanted operation of the fan due to temperature drifts.

  • Patent number: 7357689
Abstract: An automatic inflation device is provided which features a trigger and release system for use in an armed-static condition and which is advantageous in that it significantly reduces the force acting on a dissolvable tablet in the release mechanism and thereby extends the operating life of the automatic inflation device in the presence of high humidity. The device preferably operates using a male and female housing with a manifold to allow expanding gas to escape and a compressed concentric spring encompassing a CO2 cylinder subassembly, and the triggering sequence includes a degradable element which triggers the inflation device upon losing its structural integrity, which causes an extending spring to drive the CO2 cylinder toward a puncture pin.

  • Patent number: 7350689
Abstract: A reusable tamper-evident envelope includes a first substrate, a second substrate superimposed on the first substrate, at least one auxiliary substrate superimposed on and joined along one edge to the second substrate, and at least one seal along all but one edge joining the first substrate to the second substrate. Each auxiliary substrate is spaced a user-defined distance from the top edge of the first substrate. A perforation line, extending from the left side to the right side of both the first substrate and second substrates facilitate removal of a portion of the respective substrates. After an item is placed into the envelope, the user-activated seal along the remaining edge joins the first substrate to the second substrate. Subsequent uses are possible by removing portions of the first substrate and second substrate along the perforation lines and activating the auxiliary user-activated seal along the auxiliary substrate joining the first substrate to the second substrate.

  • Publication number: 20080068164
Abstract: System, method and program for sensing and controlling spacing between railroad trains. A first train broadcasts its identity and current time of day to an RFID mounted adjacent to a railroad track approximately when the first train reaches the RFID. In response, the RFID records the identity of the first train and the time of day approximately when the first train reached the RFID. The first train proceeds past the RFID. Subsequently, a second train on the railroad track reaches the RFID and reads from the RFID the identification of the first train and the time of day approximately when the first train reached the RFID. Based on a comparison to the time of day approximately when the first train reached the RFID as read from the RFID to a time of day approximately when the second train reached the RFID, a determination is made as to a time-spacing between the first and second trains. If the time-spacing is below a threshold, an operator of the second train may be alerted.
