  • Patent number: 7330698
Abstract: A wireless broadband communications system that increases data throughput and link availability through more efficient use of the electromagnetic spectrum allocated to the system. In one mode of operation, the system periodically measures a noise or interference level associated with each one of a plurality of communications channels, and generates a histogram of the measurements associated with each channel. Next, the system determines a noise/interference level estimate for each channel as a predetermined percentile of the histogram associated with the respective channel. The system then selects a respective one of the channels having the lowest noise/interference level estimate for subsequent signal transmission.

  • Publication number: 20070014941
Abstract: Pigment suitable for use in coating compositions for inkjet recording media. Surfaces of an inorganic particulate are interacted with a water-soluble polyvalent metal salt in an aqueous medium. The treated particle surfaces have a significant cationic surface charge imparted to them. The salt is a salt of a metal of Group II or Group III of the Periodic Table. Inkjet recording media treated with a coating composition containing the above pigment provide high density, fast-drying, and non-feathering ink images with suitable water fastness, while the coating compositions also offer cost advantages and improved rheology at higher pigment levels over coatings based on silica pigments.

  • Publication number: 20070004191
Abstract: A method for patterning CNTs on a wafer wherein a CNT layer is provided on a substrate, a hard mask film is deposited on the CNT layer, a BARC layer (optional) is coated on the hard mask film, and a resist is patterned on the BARC layer (or directly on the hard mask film if the BARC layer is not included). Then, the resist pattern is effectively transferred to the hard mask film by etching the BARC layer (if provided) and etching partly into, but not entirely through, the hard mask film (i.e., etching is stopped before reaching the CNT layer) Then, the resist and the BARC layer (if provided) is stripped, and the hard mask pattern is effectively transferred to the CNTs by etching away (preferably by using Cl, F plasma) the portions of the hard mask which have been already partially etched away.

  • Publication number: 20060281256
Abstract: A method of forming a self-aligned logic cell. A nanotube layer is formed over the bottom electrode. A clamp layer is formed over the nanotube layer. The clamp layer covers the nanotube layer, thereby protecting the nanotube layer. A dielectric layer is formed over the clamp layer. The dielectric layer is etched. The clamp layer provides an etch stop and protects the nanotube layer. The clamp layer is etched with an isotropic etchant that etches the clamp layer underneath the dielectric layer, creating an overlap of the dielectric layer, and causing a self-alignment between the clamp layer and the dielectric layer. A spacer layer is formed over the nanotube layer. The spacer layer is etched except for a ring portion around the edge of the dielectric layer.

  • Publication number: 20060035457
Abstract: An improvement to a method of fabricating an integrated circuit. All dielectric material that is laterally surrounding an electrically conductive interconnect is removed, while leaving the dielectric material that directly underlies the electrically conductive interconnect. The electrically conductive interconnect is back filled with a low k material, where the low k material provides low capacitance between laterally adjacent electrically conductive interconnects, and the remaining dielectric material underlying the electrically conductive interconnects provides structural support to the electrically conductive interconnects.

  • Publication number: 20060035425
Abstract: A method to maintain a well-defined gate stack profile, deposit or grow a uniform gate dielectric, and maintain gate length CD control by means of an inert insulating liner deposited after dummy gate etch and before the spacer process. The liner material is selective to wet chemicals used to remove the dummy gate oxide thereby preventing undercut in the spacer region. The method is aimed at making the metal gate electrode technology a feasible technology with maximum compatibility with the existing fabrication environment for multiple generations of CMOS transistors, including those belonging to the 65 nm, 45 nm and 25 nm technology nodes, that are being used in analog, digital or mixed signal integrated circuit for various applications such as communication, entertainment, education and security products.

  • Publication number: 20060011994
Abstract: A method of forming a metal gate in a wafer. PolySi1-xGex and polysilicon are used to form a tapered groove. Gate oxide, PolySi1-xGex, and polysilicon is deposited on a wafer. A resist pattern is formed. A portion of the polysilicon, PolySi1-xGex, and gate oxide is removed to provide a tapered profile. The resist is removed; a dielectric liner is deposited, and then at least a portion of the dielectric liner is removed, thereby exposing the polysilicon and leaving the dielectric liner in contact with the polysilicon, PolyS1-xGex, and gate oxide. A dielectric is deposited, and a portion is removed thereby exposing the polysilicon. The polysilicon, PolySi1-xGex, and gate oxide is removed from inside the dielectric liner, thereby leaving a tapered gate groove. Metal is then deposited in the groove.

  • Publication number: 20050120981
Abstract: A high efficiency heat exchanger is shown which can be incorporated into a finned tube water heater. The heat exchanger has a pair of flow manifolds each having a water inlet and a water outlet and a series of connecting openings. Circular flow tubes have connecting ends which fit within the connecting openings of the manifold so that the tubes are arranged in a stacked fashion to form a tube bundle. When incorporated into a water heater, a burner communicates with the interior space within the stacked tube bundle for producing products of combustion for heating water flowing in the flow tubes. The flow tubes have external fins which are crushed to form upper and lower flat stacking surfaces for stacking the tubes to form the tube bundle. The fins are also crushed to form angled baffled surfaces about a external periphery of the tubes. The baffle surfaces serve to retain heat from the products of combustion of the burner which are released into the interior space within the stacked tube bundle.
