  • Publication number: 20150166789
Abstract: Small diameter poly(phenylene ether) fibers can be consistently formed from a composition comprising specific amounts of a poly(phenylene ether), a processing aid, and optionally a poly(alkenyl aromatic). The processing aid can be LLDPE, a petroleum resin, or combinations thereof. The processing aid can optionally further comprise a phosphite or phosphonate. Flame retardants are minimized or excluded from the composition. The fibers can be melt spun without entanglement or breakage, and this improved processability enables small diameter fibers to be formed. The resulting fibers can be used in reinforcing structures for printed circuit boards.

  • Patent number: 9046874
Abstract: A light beam collimated by illumination optics (4) from a radiation source (6) illuminates the surface of a wave front modulator (8) such as an Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) or Computer Generated Hologram photomask (CGH). The resulting wave travels via projection optics (10) to the substrate (12), passing through a projection lens assembly (14). The SLM (8) is programmed or CGH configured with a modulation pattern that is determined by the substrate (12) topography and desired pattern. The substrate topography is provided by Digital Holography (DH) surface profilometery performed by a DH microscope (18), which provides geometrical or topographical input to the CGH calculation routines (16). An arrangement for vertical or sloping surface patterning has a grating (22) superimposed onto the CGH pattern (24) to generate +1 and ?1 orders.

  • Patent number: 8959200
Abstract: A networked clinical diagnostic analyzer is disclosed with support for monitoring by a remote back office. The disclosed analyzer includes a module to detect in real-time events of interest while allowing the back office to modify the definitions of the events. The module may be networked using virtual private networking into the back office network, which is usually different from the network at the site of the clinical diagnostic analyzer's deployment. The real-time alerts allow both a quick response to actual or expected error conditions and the downloading of logged data that is likely of most interest and relevance.

  • Patent number: 8853269
Abstract: Compositions and methods for the treatment of intestinal infections. Compositions that include a liquid crystal mixture of an antimicrobial glycerol fatty acid ester and a polyhydric alcohol inhibit the growth of numerous deleterious intestinal pathogenic bacteria, including C. difficile. C. difficile is the causative agent in an increasing number of antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections. The formulations may be administered orally as capsules or soft gels, or alternatively as a enema, colonic, or rectal suppository. When combined with a probiotic supplement, the liquid crystal combinations reported here are able to treat an intestinal bacterial infection effectively and safely, thus promoting general intestinal health.

  • Patent number: 8830987
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for IP-based call answering point selection and routing. When an IP-based call is placed to an answering point such as, for example, a Public Safety Answering Point a location for the caller can not be determined using traditional DNIS and ANI based techniques. In the present invention, a geographic location (geolocation) for the caller is determined, from as IP address associated with the caller, using a database. The database comprises information obtained from a plurality of IP location sources (e.g. Skyhook Wireless Inc.'s Loki™, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandated WiFi™ hotspot registration data). An answering point is selected from a plurality of answering points as a function of the caller's location. The call is routed to the selected answering point and the caller's location information is provided to that answering point.
