  • Patent number: 11163655
Abstract: Systems and methods which provide for managing multiple mirror resources in a storage distribution network are provided. In some embodiments, a system provides for both high availability and disaster recovery functionality at different mirroring locations. Other embodiments may provide for multiple high availability and/or multiple disaster recovery mirror resources. These mirror resources are operated in a heterogeneous manner in the sense that each have its own transport, protocol, and the like, but are configured function cooperatively or as a single mirror with respect to mirroring a primary node. Embodiments may provide for the mirroring and resynchronization of mirrored resources in the event of a communication loss with a particular resource without ceasing the mirroring operations to other resources.

  • Patent number: 11157721
Abstract: This disclosure relates to the use of “pseudo-images” to perform image recognition, e.g., to perform facial image recognition. In an embodiment, the pseudo-image is obtained by starting with a real world image and, after optional preprocessing, subjecting the image to a non-linear transformation that converts the image into a pseudo-image. While real world objects (or, more generally, real world patterns) may be perceivable in the starting image, they cannot be perceived in the pseudo-image. Image recognition takes place by comparing the pseudo-image with a library of known pseudo-images, i.e., image recognition takes place in pseudo-image space without a return to real world space. In this way, robust image recognition is achieved even for imperfect real world images, such as, real world images that have been degraded by noise, poor illumination, uneven lighting, and/or occlusion, e.g., the presence of glasses, scarves, or the like in the case of facial images.

  • Publication number: 20210326355
Abstract: The “free world replication protocol” makes use of client computing resources, wherein the clients are not part of the replicated key-value store, but instead reside in the “free world” outside of the dedicated resources of the nodes of the replicated key-value store. In the free world replication protocol, only a single “write” client is authorized to modify the key-value store at any time but any number of clients may be authorized to read data from the key-value store. The write client sends its transactions to multiple nodes in the replicated key-value store. As a result, the latency between the transaction being sent from the client and the transaction being received by the multiple nodes is reduced by comparison to existing protocols in which each client sends transactions to a single node and that node forwards the transactions. A consensus protocol, driven by a master node, is used to periodically ensure consistency, but the data transactions themselves do not make use of a master node.

  • Publication number: 20210306313
Abstract: The disclosed system implements techniques to secure communications for injecting a workload (e.g., a container) into a virtual network hosted by a cloud-based platform. Based on a delegation instruction received from a tenant, a virtual network of the tenant can connect to and execute a workload via a virtual machine that is part of a virtual network that belongs to a resource provider. To secure calls and authorize access to the tenant's virtual network, authentication information provided with a call from the virtual network of the resource provider may need to match authorization information made available via a publication service of the cloud-based platform. Additionally or alternatively, an identifier of a NIC used to make a call may need to correspond to a registered name of the resource provider for the call to be authorized. These checks provide increased security by preventing unauthorized calls to the tenant's virtual network.
