  • Publication number: 20190064113
Abstract: A diagnostic device is described herein that can be used to perform magneto-optical detection and discernment of crystals within a biofluid sample. A magnetic field can be applied by the diagnostic device in a direction relative to light traveling through the sample. The presence of a crystal can be determined based on the magneto-optical properties of the sample. The detected crystal can be one of two similar crystal types that may be in the biofluid sample. The two similar crystal types can exhibit different magneto-optical properties under a magnetic field in a different direction. Accordingly, the type of crystal can be discerned by applying the magnetic field in the different direction as light travels through the sample. Discernment of the type of crystal can lead to diagnosis of the particular disease condition and subsequent proper treatment of the disease condition.

  • Publication number: 20190052402
Abstract: A frame error correction circuit may identify and correct errors in data frames provided to a receiver as part of a diversity communications scheme. The frame error correction circuit may further align the data frames so that the data frames can be compared. The frame error correction circuit may perform a bit-wise comparison of the data frames and identify inconsistent bit positions where bits in the data frames differ from one another. Once inconsistent bit positions have been identified, the frame error correction circuit may access a permutation table of permutations of bits at the inconsistent bit positions. In some implementations, the frame error correction circuit uses the permutation table to reassemble permutations of the data frames. In various implementations, the frame error correction circuit performs a CRC of each permutation of the data frames, and provides a valid permutation to a network.

  • Patent number: 10012050
Abstract: A system and method for treating a portion of a wellbore that includes a bottom hole assembly (BHA) connected to a work string. The BHA includes a packing element movable between an unset position and a set position and a locator device movable between retracted position and expanded positions. The locator device may be a locator collet. The locator collet may be expanded by a cone movable with respect to the collet. The expanded locator device is configured to engage a profile in a ported tubular within the wellbore. The engagement between the locator device and the profile selectively prevents further movement of the BHA and provides an indication of the location the BHA. The packing element may then be actuated and the wellbore treated through a port in the ported tubular. The BHA may then be moved to a different ported housing to treat another portion of the wellbore.

  • Publication number: 20180162516
Abstract: An aircraft wing system and method comprising: an aircraft wing including upper and lower surfaces, and a leading edge between the upper and lower surfaces; a fairing coupled to the leading edge; and actuation means configured to move the fairing relative to the aircraft wing between a stowed position, a first deployed position, and a second deployed position. The stowed position is when the fairing is in contact with the aircraft wing and serves as a continuation of the aircraft wing. The first deployed position is when the fairing is in contact with the aircraft wing and located below the stowed position. The second deployed position is when the fairing is spaced apart from the leading edge to create a gap between the fairing and the leading edge.

  • Publication number: 20180128832
Abstract: Methods of isolating nucleic acid and protein molecules from a single formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sample section include lysing the cells of the tissue sample section, alkylating, reducing, and enzymatically digesting proteins in the lysate, and separating nucleic acids present in the lysate from the digested proteins. Cell lysis is performed under conditions that permit extraction of DNA, RNA, and proteins that are suitable for genomic and proteomic analysis. In particular, the buffer conditions, reaction time, and temperature of the lysis reaction are such that a suitable amount of DNA, RNA, and proteins are released and in stable condition for separation and proteogenomic analysis. Systems for performing methods include reagents and apparatus for performing steps of the method. Panels for detecting the presence and level of expression of peptides to differentiate between disease states include a plurality of peptides.

  • Publication number: 20180119718
Abstract: A fastener includes a pin member, a swage collar, and a nut. The pin member includes a shank portion having first and second ends and a threaded portion including an external thread. The swage collar has first and second ends and is adapted to be installed on the pin member and swaged onto the external thread of the pin member. The second end of the swage collar is positioned distal from the first end of the pin member when the swage collar is installed on the pin member. The nut is adapted to be installed on the pin member and has first and second ends and an internal thread adapted to engage the external thread of the pin member. When the nut is installed on the pin member, the nut is adapted to engage the swage collar such that the swage collar is retained on the pin member before swaging.

  • Patent number: 9931660
Abstract: Coat-in-place assemblies and methods to provide an aesthetically pleasing sprinkler assembly. A coat-in-place assembly includes a sprinkler body having a proximal portion and a distal portion, a thermally responsive trigger disposed adjacent the distal portion; and an escutcheon centered about the distal portion of the sprinkler body to define a void between the sprinkler axis and the escutcheon. A coating-inhibiting-cap encloses and protects the thermally responsive trigger between the sprinkler body and the cap. The cap extends into the void and is radially spaced inward relative to the escutcheon so as expose surfaces of the escutcheon for coating.

  • Publication number: 20180065650
Abstract: Systems for examining a route inject one or more electrical examination signals into a conductive route from onboard a vehicle system traveling along the route, detect one or more electrical characteristics of the route based on the one or more electrical examination signals, and detect a break in conductivity of the route responsive to the one or more electrical characteristics decreasing by more than a designated drop threshold for a time period within a designated drop time period. Feature vectors may be determined for the electrical characteristics and compared to one or more patterns in order to distinguish between breaks in the conductivity of the route and other causes for changes in the electrical characteristics.

  • Patent number: 9905226
Abstract: A voice command definition file (VCDF) declaratively defines voice commands for an application. For example, the VCDF may include definitions for: voice commands; one or more phrases/utterances that may be said to execute each of the commands; a navigation location to navigate to within the application (e.g. a page); phrase lists containing items that may be used as a parameter in a voice command; examples; feedback; and the like. A user may say a single utterance to launch the application, navigate to the associated location of the command and execute the command. The VCDF may define multiple ways to listen for a particular command. The VCDF may be edited/defined by a user and may include a user friendly name for an application. A speech engine loads the VCDF for use such that it may recognize the commands associated with an application. The definitions may be updated during runtime.

  • Patent number: 9892189
Abstract: Systems and methods for the categorization of websites are presented. A website is categorized using one or a combination of its domain name and its web page content. The domain name is tokenized, and the tokens compared to categories in a category structure to determine probabilities that the token belongs to each category. Combinations of tokens are similarly compared to the categories. A category may be determined with reference to a vector space in which a training set of websites having known categories is converted according to a methodology into reference vectors containing keyword frequencies. A target website is converted to a target vector using the same methodology, and a distance score of the target vector to each reference vector is calculated. The website represented by the target vector is assigned the category of the reference vector having the lowest distance score.
