  • Publication number: 20220252131
Abstract: A damper includes a piston rod, a damping piston, at least one cylinder containing a damping liquid, a fixed partition member for partitioning the interior of the damper into two liquid chambers, a pressure source, and a valve in communication with the pressure source which reacts as a function of the pressure. The valve can also be in communication with additional forces, such as mechanical spring forces, which can be adjustable. The valve can include a pressure intensifier. The valve generates fluid flow resistance during flow of liquid in a first direction through the partition member. The fluid flow resistance in the first direction varies according to the amount of force communicated to the valve by the pressure source and any additional forces. The partition member can include means for providing low-resistance return flow of liquid in a second direction.

  • Publication number: 20220251655
Abstract: Aberrant mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) molecules having specific large-scale deletions and having an association with endometriosis are provided. The aberrant, or mutated, mtDNA may comprise the parent nucleic acid (i.e. the large sublimon), particularly when re-circularized, wherein adjacent nucleotides are fused following the deletion to form a junction site. Alternatively, the mtDNA may comprise the deleted strand (i.e. the small sublimon), also particularly when re-circularized to create a junction site. In addition, fusion transcripts resulting from such mutated mtDNA, and their putative protein products, are provided, where such transcripts and proteins are also associated with endometriosis. • Publication number: 20220251977
Abstract: In a fossil fuel waste incineration or plasma gasification process, waste heat generated by combustion of waste is captured by a heat transfer fluid and conveyed to an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) for energy recovery. In the case of a fossil fuel-fired waste incineration system, the heat transfer fluid captures waste heat from a double-walled combustion chamber, a heat exchanger being used to cool the hot process exhaust (gas cooler). In the case of a plasma waste gasification system, the heat transfer fluid captures waste heat from a plasma torch, a gasification chamber and combustion chamber cooling jackets as well as any other high-temperature components requiring cooling, and then a heat exchanger used to cool the hot process exhaust (gas cooler). The heat exchanger may take on several configurations, including plate or shell and tube configurations.

Abstract: Methods for detecting an analyte in a sample are disclosed. The method can include depositing the sample in an instrument, such as a Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) instrument that is configured to selectively amplify an analyte, such as a characteristic portion of a genome of a pathogen. A moving average of the quantity of the analyte at an instance of time can be compared to a sum of (1) the moving average for a previous instance of time and (2) a multiple of the moving standard deviation at the previous instance of time. If the quantity of the analyte at the instance of time is greater than the sum of (1) the moving average for a previous instance of time and (2) a multiple of the moving standard deviation at the previous instance of time, it can be an indication that the sample is positive for the analyte.
