  • Publication number: 20080179742
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and solutions for growing metal charge-transfer salts on a metal surface, such as a metal layer at the bottom of a via hole. The method makes use of a solution comprising a salt additive. The temperature during growth is in the range of ?100° C. to +100° C. The method allows controlled growth of the metal charge transfer salt inside via hole while limiting growth outside the via hole. The method further limits corrosion of the metallic connections at the bottom of the via hole.

  • Publication number: 20080036572
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for releasing the access to a computer system or to a program for a user via a terminal (2) without software having to be installed solely for this purpose on the terminal (2). A data connection is established between a portable data carrier (1) of the user and the terminal (2). An authentication of the user is performed by the portable data carrier (1). If the authentication is successful, an access code is made available by the portable data carrier (1) for releasing the access to the computer system or to the program for a transmission via the data connection.

  • Publication number: 20070260934
Abstract: A technique wherein High Availability (HA) hardware is used to automatically validate control and configuration registers, e.g. automatically generate parity, detect parity errors, and report errors within software-written configuration and control registers of ASIC and IC products. Parity control logic and Masking Registers are utilized to facilitate automatic parity generation and subsequent parity error reporting. The specific location of where the error occurred can be stored to enable software to correct and/or reconfigure the registers. The HA hardware verifies the validity of control and configuration registers coupled to a bus, utilizing idle cycles in addition to valid bus cycles so there is no impact on system throughput.

  • Patent number: 7291937
Abstract: The invention relates to a wind energy system having a rotor that can be driven by the wind, preferably having one or more rotor blades that can be adjusted in angle, a generator directly or indirectly connected with the rotor, to generate electric energy, which is configured as an asynchronous generator having a super-synchronous converter cascade in the rotor circuit, for slip-variable generator operation, so that power output of the generator is possible at variable speeds of rotation of the rotor, and an operation guide system that is configured to regulate the speed of rotation of the rotor, within a predetermined wind speed range. To improve the energy yield, it is provided that the super-synchronous rectifier cascade is configured in the rotor circuit for feeding the slip power into the network. For this purpose, the super-synchronous converter cascade has a DC voltage intermediate circuit having a high-set element.

  • Patent number: 7287272
Abstract: A data carrier has stored thereon a secret code and a user's biometric data. In using the data carrier, a data carrier terminal is first authenticated for access to data stored in the data carrier by reading a secret code from the data carrier in a manner known only to an authorized terminal, and then displaying the read secret on the data carrier terminal. If the user determines that the displayed secret code is correct, the user then presents a biometric feature which is read and compared to the biometric data stored on the data carrier. If the read biometric data matches the stored biometric data, then the user is authorized for further use of the data carrier on the data carrier terminal.

  • Patent number: 7286691
Abstract: The present invention relates to devices and a method for biometric authentication by means of reference data stored in a memory of a portable data carrier. For biometric authentication methods to make their final breakthrough with respect to more widespread use, there is a need for standardized generation of reference data for the particular biometric features used for authentication. Different suppliers of methods and devices for biometric authentication have hitherto used algorithms for generating the reference data which normally lead to different reference data which are not interchangeable. This limits the employability of biometric methods to the supplier's particular system. The present invention avoids this problem by storing several sets of biometric reference data, thereby increasing the likelihood of the evaluation of at least one set of stored biometric reference data being possible. Thus, the desired system-independent authentication can be attained.

  • Patent number: 7277831
Abstract: In a method for detecting the modes of a dynamic system with a large number of modes that each have a set ? (t) of characteristic system parameters, a time series of at least one system variable x(t) is subjected to modeling, for example switch segmentation, so that in each time segment of a predetermined minimum length a predetermined prediction model, for example a neural network, for a system mode is detected for each system variable x(t), whereby modeling of the time series is followed by drift segmentation in which, in each time segment in which there is transition of the system from a first system mode to a second system mode, a series of mixed prediction models is detected produced by linear, paired superimposition of the prediction models of the two system modes.

  • Publication number: 20070208669
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for processing data are described herein. The system maintains first databases of patents, and second databases of non-patent information of interest to a corporate entity. The system also maintains one or more groups. Each of the groups comprises any number of the patents from the first databases. The system, upon receiving appropriate operator commands, automatically processes the patents in one of the groups in conjunction with non-patent information from the second databases. Accordingly, the system performs patent-centric and group-oriented processing of data A group can also include any number of non-patent documents. The groups may be product based, person based, corporate entity based, or user-defined. Other types of groups are also covered, such as temporary groups.

  • Patent number: 7216752
Abstract: A hydraulic cylinder (10) is disclosed comprising a cylinder housing (12) with a housing bore (14), a piston (16) held longitudinally displaceably in the housing bore, a piston rod (18) allocated to the piston and a fixing element (20) which before a first cylinder operation is detachably connected with the piston rod and fixes this in a predetermined stroke position in relation to the cylinder housing and is designed to release the piston rod in relation to the cylinder housing on the first cylinder operation. According to the invention, before the first cylinder operation the fixing element in a first position is detachably connected with a center area (22) of the piston rod and on cylinder first operation can be moved from the first position to a second position area (24), in particular stationary in relation to the piston rod, in which it can be fixed for further cylinder operations.

  • Patent number: 7165716
Abstract: A method, apparatus and system for biometric authentication of a person are proposed. Since the detection of biometric data never matches 100 percent, authentication is already effected when the detected data exceed a defined threshold value in comparison to stored reference data. In order to increase security, the invention provides that information about the person's individual properties influencing the biometric data is stored and taken into account in the authentication process. For example, the threshold value is set low upon comparison of a fingerprint only if the person has exceptionally dry or moist skin. On the other hand, the sensor for detecting the biometric data of the fingerprint can also be set to be more sensitive or less sensitive depending on the stored information.

  • Publication number: 20070010754
Abstract: In the method for initiating occupant-assisted measures inside a vehicle, particularly a motor vehicle, cerebral-current signals of at least one vehicle occupant, particularly of the driver, are detected by a measurement technique. On the basis of the cerebral-current signals, the intention of the vehicle occupant is estimated or detected by real-time processing. Based the intention of the vehicle occupant, measures for transferring the current state of the vehicle into a state of the vehicle matched to the intention of the vehicle occupant are initiated in advance.

  • Patent number: 7057261
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention provides a novel method which makes LVR to HVR registration possible by wrapping the X and Y scribes around each instance of each layer on both the LVR and HVR reticles; standard HVR reticles and LVR reticles will not align to one another due to registration and electrical test structures in the scribe being in different locations. Another embodiment of the present invention addresses the loss of die per wafer due to increased scribe area when using LVR and HVR reticles in the same set.
