  • Publication number: 20130137342
Abstract: A method and apparatus for buffing tread from a tire carcass, the method comprising the steps of: positioning a sensor at a first lateral location along a width of the tread; receiving a first signal from the sensor, the first signal generated as a function of a distance between the sensor and a belt in the tire and a tire characteristic; selecting a first signal response curve from a plurality of signal response curves based upon the first lateral location of the sensor, the selected signal response curve representing the function of the distance between the sensor and the tire belt and the tire characteristic; determining from the response curve the distance between the sensor and the belt for the signal response received; buffing tread from the tire until the distance between the sensor and the belt reaches a final distance. The steps are repeated at a second lateral location.

  • Publication number: 20130093587
Abstract: An automatic alarm system is described that is triggered by the lack of event at one or more portable remote unit(s). The system includes an electromagnetic interface from a plurality of portable units to a central command and monitoring element. This automatic triggering of an alarm condition adds security to the users of the system since it is not always feasible to explicitly trigger an alarm when in danger.

  • Publication number: 20130087940
Abstract: The present invention includes methods and apparatus for curing retread tires, which includes detecting and controlling a leak in a tire-membrane assembly during such curing operations. The steps of the method include placing a plurality of tire-membrane assemblies within a tire curing chamber; connecting a membrane fluid passage to each curing membrane of each tire-membrane assembly where each passage extends in fluid communication between one of the curing membranes and a pressure source and/or a vacuum source, each membrane fluid passage including a transducer for measuring pressure within the passage and a flow restrictor, in particular embodiments; initiating a curing process; receiving a one or more signal responses from each transducer generated as a function of the fluid pressure within the membrane fluid passages; and determining through a controller whether the signal responses received in the prior step indicate an undesired change in pressure in each curing membrane.

  • Patent number: 8412380
Abstract: A method for curing a rubber article including maintaining a measured curing temperature between a high temperature limit (TH) and a low temperature limit (TL). The TH TL are derived from high and low temperature curing curves respectively. Other steps may include obtaining a curing target A1 or A2, wherein A1 and A2 are areas between the high temperature curing curve and a base temperature (TB) and the low temperature curing curve respectively wherein TB is selected to make A1 and A2 within at least 10% of each other and determining an area under a measured curing curve, the area under the measured curing curve being between the measured curing curve and the TB, wherein the measured curing curve is defined as a plot of the measured curing temperature over time.

  • Publication number: 20130023757
Abstract: An interconnect for an RF detector coil comprises a substrate comprising strip of insulating material, a conducting layer formed on a first side of the substrate, and a ground layer formed on a second side of the substrate. At least one of the layers has a periodic pattern so that the conducting layer alternates along its length between capacitive regions which are opposite regions of the ground layer, and non-capacitive regions.

  • Patent number: 8328792
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-wetted intermittent catheter apparatus including a collapsible container having a conduit positioned therein as well as a wetting fluid. The conduit has a lubricious coating disposed thereon such that the coating is hydrated upon contact with the wetting fluid in the container, providing a slippery surface for the conduit, which facilitates introduction of the conduit into a user. An introduction member may be incorporated into the distal end of the container and a disposal member may be incorporated into the proximal end, each respectively being positioned in an opening in the container and in communication with the conduit such that fluid flow through the conduit (positioned in the container) is enabled. A bag may be attached to or incorporated into the disposal member to provide a closed system such that the user or assistant is not exposed to potential contaminants.

  • Publication number: 20120293420
Abstract: An input device has both a touch sensor and a position sensor. A computer using data from the input device uses the relative motion of a contact on a touch sensor with respect to motion from a position detector to disambiguate intentional from incidental motion. The input device provides synchronized position sensor and touch sensor data to the computer to permit processing the relative motion and performing other computations on both position sensor and touch sensor data. The input device can encode the magnitude and direction of motion of the position sensor and combines it with the touch sensor data from the same time frame, and output the synchronized data to the computer.

  • Publication number: 20120215063
Abstract: Described herein are devices and methods comprising a system for tissue reinforcement, such as stabilization of fascial structures of the pelvic floor in vaginal wall prolapse. The surgical treatment can provide a mechanical support or bridging material for a fascial defect. An implant with four arms, for example two proximal arms and two distal arms, can provide post-surgical adjustability of the graft position, enabling tension free placement of the implant. In addition, a four-point fixation of the implant with apical support can ensure a suitable anatomical repair. Furthermore, instrumentation is disclosed herein, including an introducer device capable of fixing a wide variety of materials, such as mesh arms and suture, to tissue.
