  • Publication number: 20160087712
Abstract: A signal transmission approach comprises encoding a source signal (comprising source symbols) to generate a corresponding encoded signal. The encoded signal is modulated by mapping each source symbol to a respective signal constellation point of an applied signal constellation to generate a modulated signal. The modulated signal is pre-distorted based on a distortion estimate to generate a pre-distorted signal. The pre-distorted signal is filtered to generate a filtered signal. The filtered signal is frequency translated and amplified to generate a transmission signal for transmission via an uplink channel of a satellite communications system. To increase throughput, the source signal is processed through the apparatus and the resulting transmission signal is generated at a Faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) symbol rate and with a tight frequency roll-off. The modulated signal is pre-distorted based on a distortion estimate relating to the nonlinearity and the filters applied before and/or after the pre-distorter.

  • Publication number: 20160088022
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include techniques for processing messages transmitted between computer networks. In some embodiments, messages such as requests and responses for various types of web services, applications, and other web content may be transmitted between multiple computer networks. One or more intermediary devices or applications, such as a proxy server implemented within a physical or logical subnetwork, may receive, process, and transmit the messages between the communication endpoints. In some embodiments, a proxy server may be configured to operate within a subnetwork of an internal computer network, exposing various web applications and/or services of the internal computer network to external computer networks. Such a proxy server may select specific policies for processing messages based on various message characteristics and the current point in a predetermined processing flow for the message.

  • Patent number: 9292380
Abstract: Hardware processors in an SOC integrated circuit logically swapping memories by remapping memory addresses, including tightly coupled and local memories, to enable a sequence of data-processing algorithms to execute more quickly by different hardware processors without having to copy the data between different memories using a relatively slow data crossbar switch. When a memory stores error-correction code (ECC) address information linking stored ECC data with stored user data, the hardware processor dynamically remaps the ECC address information, as needed.

  • Patent number: 9294099
Abstract: A hybrid counter generates a multi-bit hybrid counter value. The hybrid counter includes two or more asynchronous counters, each configured to generate a subset of the bits of the multi-bit hybrid counter value. The asynchronous counters are interconnected by a logic gate and a clock gating circuit. The logic gate generates an asynchronous logic value based on the bits generated by the previous asynchronous counters. The clock gating circuit re-times the asynchronous logic value to generate a synchronous logic value that is used to toggle the next asynchronous counter. The hybrid counter functions more accurately than conventional asynchronous counters and with less power than conventional synchronous counters.

  • Patent number: 9294235
Abstract: In aspects of the present disclosure, a user equipment receives inter-NodeB multi-point transmissions, and a multipoint aggregation component detects a gap in the sequence numbers, delays transmitting a not acknowledged signal (NAK) by starting a NAK delay timer, and transmits, by a transceiver, NAK for the gap in sequence numbers in response to the NAK delay timer expiring and detecting that the gap has not been filled during the delaying. If the Medium Access Control (MAC) entity as the respective NodeB identifies itself to the Radio Link Control (RLC), out-of-order delivery (skew) can eventually be distinguished from genuine data loss before the NAK delay timer expires based upon tracking the highest sequence numbers received. Adaptive NAK delay timer can be performed by monitoring skew duration.

  • Patent number: 9292617
Abstract: A method and user interface object for invoking a content selection service to operate with a web page are disclosed. Consistent with one embodiment of the invention, a content selection web portal associated with a content selection service provides a web page for selecting one or more user interface objects to be added to a content provider's web page. Each user interface object is displayed with its associated snippet of code, making it simple for a web author to copy and paste the code into his or her own web page. Once embedded in a web page, the code snippet displays a user interface object (e.g., button) on the web page, and when pressed or selected, invokes a content selection service. Alternatively, the content selection service may be automatically invoked without requiring the selection of a button.

  • Patent number: 9290144
Abstract: A sensor based vehicle flotation device is suitable for floating a vehicle immersed in sufficient water to activate a protected water sensor and, if desired, to confirm through auxiliary sensors whether a hazardous condition is presented. When such a device detects and verifies that the vehicle is becoming immersed in water, one or more expansible chambers, affording sufficient buoyancy to allow the vehicle to float, automatically and rapidly inflate by means of compressed, pumped or pressurized gas. Upon the successful deployment of the expansible chamber, the land vehicle will begin to float, limiting water damage to the vehicle and/or bodily harm to its occupants, and reducing the risk of the vehicle overturning. The expansible chamber will remain inflated until the land vehicle is returned to safety, and the device is detached from the land vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9294249
Abstract: An AP including a MAC module to designate a predetermined time period to communicate with a plurality of client stations associated with the AP via a channel. The MAC module instructs remaining client stations associated with the AP to not transmit data during the predetermined time period. The MAC module receives, during the predetermined time period, data transmitted by the plurality of client stations without sensing the channel, and receives, at a time other than the predetermined time period, data transmitted by the remaining client stations by sensing the channel. An acknowledgment generating module generates acknowledgements in response to receiving data from the plurality of client stations. The MAC module aggregates the acknowledgements in a single aggregated frame, which includes a plurality of sub-frames, each sub-frame including one of the acknowledgements. The MAC module transmits the single aggregated frame to the plurality of client stations during the predetermined time period.
