  • Patent number: 9330424
Abstract: A system and method for performing a hypothetical power management analysis on a distributed computer system uses chronologically consecutive snapshots of the distributed computer system. The snapshots are used to extract demands of clients running in the distributed computer system for a resource for different time intervals, which are then stitched together to produce a workload trace. The snapshots and the workload trace are used to construct modeling scenarios for the distributed computer system. The modeling scenarios are used to perform analyzes to simulate the operation of the distributed computer system during which the power management module is enabled to compute potential power savings.

  • Patent number: 9325540
Abstract: In a method for reducing interference in wireless communications, a beamforming matrix is determined at a first communication device based on an estimate of a multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) communication channel between the first communication device and a second communication device. Both the first communication device and the second communication device belong to a first wireless network. Alternatively, the beamforming matrix may be generated based on the estimate of the MIMO communication channel and received at the first communication device. The beamforming matrix is used at the first communication device for the purpose of reducing interference to a second wireless network. where the interference is caused by the first communication device transmitting to the second communication device via the MIMO communication channel.

  • Patent number: 9325762
Abstract: An apparatus and method of wireless communication includes determining, at a compressor component, whether to transmit a current data packet as a compressed current data packet or an uncompressed current data packet. Further, these aspects include determining whether a data sequence in the current data packet matches a first or second data sequence when determining to transmit the uncompressed current data packet, wherein the first data sequence indicates a first compression state and the second data sequence indicates a second compression state. Also, these aspects include adding the second data sequence to the uncompressed current data packet for transmission when the data sequence in the current data packet matches the first or second data sequence. Additionally, these aspects include transmitting the uncompressed current data packet with the second data sequence when the data sequence in the current data packet matches the first or second data sequence.

  • Publication number: 20160110121
Abstract: It is determined that a first set of one or more blocks associated with a file system are to be freed. Each of the first set of blocks is associated with a block identifier. In response to a determination that the first set of blocks is to be freed, it is determined that a first log has been allocated an insufficient number of data blocks to store the block identifiers that are associated with the first set of blocks. In response to a determination that the first log has been allocated an insufficient number of data blocks, one or more data blocks are allocated to the first log. It is indicated that one or more block identifiers are to be removed from the first log and added to a second log. It is indicated that metadata associated with a second set of one or more blocks is to be updated.

  • Patent number: 9319997
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for power control of uplink transmissions by a user equipment in a way that can reduce interference to neighbor cells. Various aspects of the disclosure decouple the power control for uplink data transmissions from the power control for uplink for a control channel transmissions. For example, one type of power control command may be utilized to control the power the UE utilizes to transmit data channels such as the DPDCH and/or the E-DCH (e.g., the E-DPDCH and the E-DPCCH). Further, another type of power control command may be utilized to control the power the UE utilizes to transmit control channels such as the HS-DPCCH. In this way, the uplink data channels, which can cause substantial interference to neighbor cells, can be power controlled by those neighbor cells to reduce that interference.

  • Patent number: 9319904
Abstract: A first sounding packet is transmitted from the wireless communication device to a calibration station. A first channel descriptor is generated based on the first sounding packet. A second sounding packet is transmitted from the calibration station to the wireless communication device. A second channel descriptor is generated based on the second sounding packet. The first channel descriptor and the second channel descriptor are obtained at a processor device. Calibration coefficients indicative of one or both of phase imbalance and amplitude imbalance between a receive radio frequency (RF) chain and a transmit RF chain at the wireless communication device are generated based on the first and the second channel descriptors. The calibration coefficients are sent from the processor device to the wireless communication device.
