  • Publication number: 20160104290
Abstract: Techniques, systems, and devices are disclosed for analyzing a reconstructed charged particle image of a volume of interest from charged particle detector measurements to determine a location and boundaries of one or more objects or an orientation of the one or more objects. The technique can include performing a segmentation operation on the reconstructed charged particle image of the volume. The segmentation operation identifies a subset of a set of voxels of the image of the volume as object candidate voxels. The technique can include locating corners of the one or more objects to determine the location, boundaries, or the orientation of the one or more objects. The technique can also include the computation of the center of mass of the one or more objects. • Patent number: 9313754
Abstract: A system and method of extracting data from data packets transmitted over a wireless network includes receiving a data packet having a preamble portion and a payload portion. The preamble portion is cross correlated with a first known spreading sequence to generate a first timing signal and the preamble portion is cross correlated with a second known spreading signal to generate a frame timing signal. An impulse is detected in the first timing signal and a first timing parameter is set based upon the detected impulse in the first timing signal. An impulse is detected in the frame timing signal and a frame timing parameter is set based upon the detected impulse in the frame timing signal. Data is extracted from the received payload portion according to the first timing parameter and the frame timing parameter.

  • Patent number: 9309472
Abstract: Methods are provided for improving the yield of distillate products from hydroprocessing of gas oil feedstocks, such as vacuum gas oils. It has been unexpectedly found that stripping of gases or fractionation to separate out a distillate fraction during initial hydrotreatment of a feed can provide a substantial increase in distillate yield at a desired amount of feedstock conversion. The improvement in yield of distillate products can allow a desired level of conversion to be performed on a feedstock for generating lubricating base oil products while reducing or minimizing the amount of naphtha (or lower) boiling range products. Alternatively, the improvement in yield of distillate products can correspond to an improved yield during a single pass through a reaction system, so that distillate yield is increased even though a lubricant boiling range product is not generated.

  • Publication number: 20160094034
Abstract: By virtue of the ability to vary local load via inverter (e.g., solar PV inverter) volt-ampere reactive power (VAR) injection, local demand and energy consumption can be controlled at a system level. Utilities that provide solar PV systems to consumers can leverage this ability to reduce the purchase of high cost energy. Moreover, revenue for such utilities can be maximized. For example, such localized voltage and VAR control allow for precise control to achieve, e.g., plus or minus about two percent of kW and kWHr of power consumed at a node.

  • Publication number: 20160091957
Abstract: Techniques and mechanisms to manage power states for a system-on-chip (SOC). Multiple modules of the SOC include a first module to perform a task including one or more accesses to a memory. In an embodiment, the SOC is transitioned to one of a path-to-memory-available (PMA) power state and a path-to-memory-not-available (PMNA) power state, where the transition is in response to an indication that, of the multiple modules, only the first module is to access the memory during the task. The PMA power state enables data communication between the memory and the first module and prevents data communication between the memory and any other module of the multiple modules. In another embodiment, the PMNA power state prevents data communication between the memory and any of the multiple modules, but allows a low latency transition from the PMNA power state to the PMA power state.

  • Publication number: 20160090334
Abstract: Methods are provided for forming aromatic compounds from a highly unsaturated aliphatic feeds optionally in combination with methanol. The method can include dehydrogenating a feed containing at least about 50 vol % C1-C4 alkanes under dehydrogenation conditions to form a dehydrogenation effluent containing at least about 25 vol % alkynes. Alternatively, other sources of alkyne-containing feeds can be used. At least a portion of the alkyne-containing feed can then be converted under effective conversion conditions to form a conversion effluent comprising a hydrocarbon product containing aromatic compounds.

  • Publication number: 20160094723
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for enabling personalized shared mobile phone usage when accessing data services within a wireless telecommunications network, including an illustrative example application of the invention as it relates to mobile subscribers who cannot afford a mobile phone handset in emerging markets. For instance, a prepaid wireless subscriber can have a personal phone number associated with their own billing account, which can be used to access data services on a wireless network without needing to purchase any hardware, such as a mobile handset or SIM card. Thus, the subscriber may access his account and use data services through a borrowed handset.

  • Publication number: 20160090332
Abstract: Methods are provided for improving the yield of aromatics during conversion of oxygenate feeds. An oxygenate feed can contain a mixture of oxygenate compounds, including one or more compounds with a hydrogen index of less than 2, so that an effective hydrogen index of the mixture of oxygenates is between about 1.4 and 1.9. Methods are also provided for converting a mixture of oxygenates with an effective hydrogen index greater than about 1 with a pyrolysis oil co-feed. The difficulties in co-processing a pyrolysis oil can be reduced or minimized by staging the introduction of pyrolysis oil into a reaction system. This can allow varying mixtures of pyrolysis oil and methanol, or another oxygenate feed, to be introduced into a reaction system at various feed entry points.

  • Patent number: 9299924
Abstract: A technique relates to an MRAM system. A conformal film covers trenches formed in an upper material. The upper material covers conductive islands in a substrate. The conformal film is selectively etched to leave sidewalls on the trenches. The sidewalls are etched into vertical columns self-aligned to and directly on top of the conductive islands below. A filling material is deposited and planarized to leave exposed tops of the vertical columns. An MTJ element is formed on top of the filling material and exposed tops of the vertical columns. The MTJ element is patterned into lines corresponding to the vertical columns, and each of the lines has a line MTJ element self-aligned to one of the vertical columns. Line MRAM devices are formed by patterning the MTJ element into the lines. Each of line MRAM devices respectively include the line MTJ element self-aligned to the one of the vertical columns.
