  • Patent number: 9195455
Abstract: According to an aspect of the present invention, the dependency information of software components implementing an enterprise application, is used to minimize the down time of the components when applying patches. In an embodiment, all the software components are shut down before applying patches. The patches are then applied and the components are started in a dependency order starting from an independent component. The down time is reduced as a result. According to another aspect, the shutdown also is performed in the reverse of the dependency order. The shutdown and starting are performed using recursive logic.

  • Patent number: 9196047
Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable medium for determining a number of mycobacteria in source image data of a sputum-smear sample are provided. First image data is extracted from the source image data of the sputum-smear sample. Binary image data is created from the extracted first image data. A plurality of groups of blobs is identified in the created binary image data. A distance between a pair of the identified plurality of groups of blobs is determined. If the distance is below a threshold value, the pair is combined as a single group of blobs. The determining is repeated for pairs of the identified plurality of groups of blobs, and the remaining groups of blobs are then classified.

  • Publication number: 20150334575
Abstract: Various embodiments implemented on a mobile communication device leverage the availability of multiple RATs to receive service from a combination of RATs that avoids the potential for inter-RAT coexistence interference. A mobile communication device processor may determine whether there is a likelihood of inter-RAT coexistence interference between a first RAT and a second RAT. In response to determining that there is a likelihood of interference occurring between the first RAT and the second RAT, the device processor may attempt to receive service with the first RAT and a third RAT that will not interfere with the first RAT. The device processor may monitor conditions to recognize when the likelihood of interference no longer exists between the first RAT and the second RAT, and reestablish service with the second RAT when that happens. Thus, the device processor may ensure that service is only acquired with non-interfering RATs.

  • Patent number: 9190929
Abstract: Multi-level rectifiers are provided. A multi-level rectifier may convert a medium AC voltage to a medium DC voltage. A multi-level rectifier may comprise an input inductor, a set of diodes, a set of switches, and a DC link comprising a set of capacitors. One end of the input inductor is coupled to the input AC voltage and the other end of the input inductor is coupled to a pair of diodes that are series connected. The set of switches may be regulated such that the inductor may be coupled to a DC voltage point of the DC link. A multi-level rectifier may operate under a set of operation modes. Each operation mode may be determined from the input voltage and the inductor current. Accordingly, a sinusoidal voltage at the fundamental frequency of the input voltage may be synthesized by selectively switching between adjacent operation modes of the set of operation modes.

  • Patent number: 9186963
Abstract: A method of reducing glare may include sensing a first light source with a second vehicle, and sensing a second light source with a first vehicle and oscillating a first light source ICF between a substantially opaque state and a substantially clear state on a first schedule. A second windscreen ICF may be oscillating between the substantially opaque state and the substantially clear state on a second schedule different from the first schedule. A position of the light source may be sensed and an eye position of the occupant estimated. An intersecting region of the selectively-darkenable ICF, which is located substantially along a line from the position of the light source to the eye position, is calculated. The intersecting region of the ICF is darkened, such that a reduced amount of light from the light source passes through the intersecting region.

  • Publication number: 20150325013
Abstract: Techniques, systems, and devices are disclosed for analyzing a reconstructed charged particle image of a volume of interest from charged particle detector measurements to detect objects within the volume of interest and then extracting features from the detected objects based on their statistical and geometric properties. In one aspect, this technique partitions the reconstructed charged particle image of the volume into a set of voxels, wherein each voxel is associated with an intensity value. The technique next performs a segmentation operation on the said image to identify a subset of the set of voxels as object-candidate voxels for generating objects. The technique then performs a connected-component analysis on the object-candidate voxels to identify one or more objects within the said image of the volume. The technique subsequently extracts a set of object features from each identified object based at least on the statistical and geometric properties of the identified object.
