  • Publication number: 20150324838
Abstract: Systems and methods for evaluating effectiveness of campaigns are disclosed. One exemplary method includes identifying a promotional campaign offered by a merchant during an offer period including an offer of a commodity at a predetermined price, and compiling a first set of payment accounts based on each payment account including a transaction to the merchant at the predetermined price within the offer period. The method also includes correlating the first set of payment accounts to a second set of payment accounts based on at least one identifying criteria associated with transactions to the payment accounts during a correlation period, which is different than the offer period. The method further includes generating and storing a comparison between the first set of payment accounts and the second set of payment accounts for transaction data during the offer period, to thereby indicate an effectiveness of the campaign.

  • Publication number: 20150319316
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for enabling personalized shared mobile phone usage when accessing data services within a wireless telecommunications network, including an illustrative example application of the invention as it relates to mobile subscribers who cannot afford a mobile phone handset in emerging markets. For instance, a prepaid wireless subscriber can have a personal phone number associated with their own billing account, which can be used to access data services on a wireless network without needing to purchase any hardware, such as a mobile handset or SIM card. Thus, the subscriber may access his account and use data services through a borrowed handset.

  • Patent number: 9178745
Abstract: In a method for generating a physical layer (PHY) data unit for transmission via a communication channel, information bits to be included in the PHY data unit are encoded using a forward error correction (FEC) encoder. Also, the information bits are encoded according to a block coding scheme, where m copies of each bit are included in the information bits, and one or more bits in the m copies of each bit are flipped. The information bits are mapped to a plurality of constellation symbols, and a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols are generated to include the plurality of constellation symbols. The PHY data unit is generated to include the plurality of OFDM symbols.

  • Patent number: 9178586
Abstract: A method of antenna selection, in a MIMO system in which a transmitter having a first plurality of RF chains communicates with a receiver having a second plurality of RF chains, includes transmitting consecutive sounding packets produced by the first plurality of RF chains. The consecutive sounding packets each include a training symbol, and collectively sound a full-size channel for the MIMO system. The method also includes receiving channel state information for each of a plurality of scaled sub-channel estimates determined at the receiver. The channel state information includes at least one of respective gain factors that were applied to the consecutive sounding packets received at the receiver and respective scaling factors that were applied to sub-channel estimates determined at the receiver. The method also includes adjusting power levels applied to the first plurality of RF chains in response to receiving the channel state information.

  • Patent number: 9175905
Abstract: This process comprises using unconventional processing of hydrocarbons, e.g. natural gas, for recovering C2+ and NGL hydrocarbons that meet pipeline specifications, without the core high capital cost requirement of a demethanizer column, which is central to and required by almost 100% of the world's current NGL recovery technologies. It can operate in Ethane Extraction or Ethane Rejection modes. The process uses only heat exchangers, compression and simple separation vessels to achieve specification ready NGL. The process utilizes cooling the natural gas, expansion cooling, separating the gas and liquid streams, recycling the cooled streams to exchange heat and recycling selective composition bearing streams to achieve selective extraction of hydrocarbons, in this instance being NGLs. The compactness and utility of this process makes it feasible in offshore applications as well as to implementation to retrofit/revamp or unload existing NGL facilities.

  • Publication number: 20150311718
Abstract: A plurality of edge of network grid volt ampere reactive (VAR) sources are provided in a power system in order to effectuate control at a customer level, which in turn effectuates control at a feeder level, which in turn effectuates control of an entire power system or wide area electric grid network. By optimally selecting voltage setpoints and applying such voltage setpoints to the plurality of edge of network grid VAR sources, the power system can be configured to self-balance, power factor compensation can be determined without the need for measuring load power factor. Moreover, traditionally volatile voltages at the feeder can be flattened, and VAR control can be realized.

  • Publication number: 20150311308
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a high-K dielectric film for use with silicon germanium (SiGe) or germanium channel materials, and methods of fabrication. As a first step of this process, an interfacial layer (IL) is formed on the semiconductor substrate providing reduced interface trap density. However, an ultra-thin layer is used as a barrier film to avoid germanium diffusion in high-k film and oxygen diffusion from the high-k film to the interfacial layer (IL), therefore, dielectric films such as aluminum oxide (Al2O3), zirconium oxide, or lanthanum oxide (La2O3) may be used. In addition, these films can provide high thermal budget. A second dielectric layer is then deposited on the first dielectric layer. The second dielectric layer is a high-k dielectric layer, providing a reduced effective oxide thickness (EOT), resulting in improved device performance.
