  • Patent number: 10217241
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system for fast parallel graph compression based on identifying a set of large cliques, which is used to encode the graph. The system provides both permanently-stored and in-memory graph encoding and reduces the space needed to represent and store a graph, the I/O traffic to use the graph, and the computation needed to perform algorithms involving the graph. The system thereby improves computing technology and graph computation. During operation, the system obtains data indicating vertices and edges of a graph. The system executes a clique-finding method to identify a maximum clique in the graph. The system then removes the clique from the graph, adds the clique to a set of found cliques, and generates a compressed representation of the graph based on the set of found cliques.

  • Publication number: 20180365019
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide a system for facilitating hybrid task management across a central processing unit (CPU) and a graphics processing unit (GPU) of a computer. During operation, the system determines a set of tasks for performing data mining on a data set and storing the set of tasks in a data structure in an ascending order of uniformity associated with a respective task. The uniformity of a task indicates how uneven and skewed the task is compared to other tasks in the set of tasks. The system then allocates a subset of tasks to a core of the CPU from a front of the data structure and a subset of tasks to a core of the GPU from a back of the data structure.

  • Patent number: 10073815
Abstract: A method and system for performing general matrix-matrix multiplication (GEMM) operations on a graphics processor unit (GPU) using Smart kernels. During operation, the system may generate a set of kernels that includes at least one of a variable-dimension variable-K GEMM kernel, a variable-dimension constant-K GEMM kernel, or a combination thereof. A constant-K GEMM kernel performs computations for matrices with a specific value of K (e.g., the number of columns in a first matrix and the number of rows in a second matrix). Variable-dimension GEMM kernels allow for flexibility in the number of rows and columns used by a thread block to perform matrix multiplication for a sub-matrix. The system may generate rules to select the best (e.g., fastest) kernel for performing computations according to the particular parameter combination of the matrices being multiplied.

  • Patent number: 10067910
Abstract: A method and system performing a general matrix-matrix multiplication (GEMM) operation using a kernel compiled with optimal maximum register count (MRC). During operation, the system may generate the kernel compiled with optimal MRC. This may involve determining a fastest compiled kernel among a set of compiled kernels by comparing the speeds of the compiled kernels. Each kernel may be compiled with a different MRC value between zero and a predetermined maximum number of registers per thread. The fastest compiled kernel is determined to be the kernel with optimal MRC. The system may receive data representing at least two matrices. The system may select the kernel compiled with optimal MRC, and perform the GEMM operation on the two matrices using the selected kernel. Some embodiments may also perform general matrix-vector multiplication (GEMV), sparse matrix-vector multiplication (SpMV), or k-means clustering operations using kernels compiled with optimal MRC.

  • Patent number: 9994792
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of recombinant fatty acid synthesis, particularly in transgenic plants. The application describes genes involved in fatty acid synthesis and provides methods and vectors for the manipulation of fatty acid composition of plant oils. In particular, the invention provides constructs for achieving the integration of multiple heterologous genes involved in fatty acid synthesis into the plant genome, such that the resulting plants produce altered levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Also described are methods for enhancing the expression of fatty acid biosynthesis enzymes by co-expressing a silencing suppressor within the plant storage organ.

  • Patent number: 9984327
Abstract: A method and system for performing a graph search, includes constructing an abstract representation of the graph using state-space abstraction. The abstract representation of the graph includes one or more abstract nodes having duplicate detection scopes and one or more abstract edges having operator groups. The duplicate detection scopes of the abstract nodes are partitioned into smaller duplicate detection scopes using edge partitioning. The abstract edges include the smaller duplicate detection scopes. Nodes in the current search layer are expanded using the operator groups of outgoing abstract edges of the abstract nodes the nodes map to. The operator groups associated with abstract edges having disjoint duplicate detection scopes are used to expand the nodes in parallel. Once all the operator groups in the current search layer have been used for node expansion the method progresses to the next search layer.
