  • Patent number: 10897728
Abstract: A network may implement a method to support a mobility of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The network or network functions may identify the WTRU that is associated with one or more capabilities and one or more mobility properties. The network or network functions may determine subscription information and network policy information for the WTRU. The network or network functions may select a mobility pattern for the WTRU based on the one or more capabilities and the one or more mobility properties associated with the WTRU, the subscription information, and the network policy information. The mobility pattern may be associated with a mobility parameter and a value corresponding to the mobility parameter.

  • Publication number: 20210014742
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, systems, etc. for handling mobility in connection with protocol data unit (PDU) sessions are provided. Among these is a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) that may receive, from a source access network (S-AN), a handover command in connection with a handover involving a multi-access protocol PDU (MA-PDU) session having one of first and second access legs associated with the S-AN. The WTRU may determine that the second access leg should be associated to the S-AN for the handover. The WTRU may send a session modification message to request modification of the MA-PDU session to cause the second access leg to become associated with S-AN The WTRU may establish a radio resource control connection with a target AN (T-AN), and the first and second access legs (e.g., as a combined access leg) may be associated with the T-AN.

  • Publication number: 20200404734
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for protocol data unit (PDU) session management over different access technologies (ATs) are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive a first message from a network over a first access technology. The first message may include an indication for the WTRU to reestablish resources for one or more protocol data unit (PDU) sessions over a second access technology. The WTRU may determine that a PDU session of the one or more PDU sessions is locally deactivated by the WTRU. The WTRU may determine that it is in a limited service state associated with the second access technology. The WTRU may send a second message via the first access technology. The second message may include a PDU session status information element (IE) indicating the PDU session is locally deactivated such that the network releases the PDU session.

  • Publication number: 20200404472
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for priority handling for ProSe Communications. A relay wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may act as a relay between the network and the remote WTRU. The relay WTRU may receive a temporary mobile group identity (TMGI) request message from a remote WTRU. The TMGI request message may include a TMGI, a ProSe per packet priority level associated with the TMGI, etc. The relay WTRU may receive an evolved multimedia broadcast multicast service (eMBMS) data packet from a network. The eMBMS may be associated with the TMGI. The relay WTRU may apply the received ProSe per packet priority level associated with the TMGI to the received eMBMS data packet. The relay WTRU may relay the eMBMS data packet to the remote WTRU based on the ProSe per packet priority level. The relay WTRU may forward the eMBMS data packet to the remote WTRU via a PC5 interface.

  • Patent number: 10856221
Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is configured to receive at least three sets of parameters associated with power saving. A first set of the parameters is associated with an idle state. A second set of the parameters is associated with a connected state. A third set of the parameters is associated with not being in a connected state and remains registered with a network and maintains a packet data network (PDN) connection. The WTRU is configured to enter active times based on the third set of parameters on a condition that the WTRU is not in the connected state and remains registered with the network. During the active times, the WTRU is configured to monitor physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs) for paging messages.

  • Publication number: 20200374793
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for network slice selection and/or reselection. A WTRU may receive updated assistance information for network slice selection and/or reselection. The WTRU may apply local policies to determine when to use the updated assistance information to access a network slice. The WTRU may determine, based on the first PCI and the PCIs to AIDs mapping, whether the WTRU is allowed to access the first neighbor cell. The WTRU may perform cell selection or reselection with the first neighbor cell as a cell selection or reselection candidate. The WTRU may perform cell selection or reselection based on the WTRU determining that the WTRU is allowed to access the first neighbor cell. The WTRU may determine that the WTRU is allowed to access the first neighbor cell based on the first PCI and the PCIs to AIDs mapping.

  • Publication number: 20200304409
Abstract: A system and apparatus for addressing the different types of mobility of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in a network. A radio access network (RAN) may send a request for configuration information to a gateway device including a device ID of a WTRU, a service ID, and a RAN address. Once the RAN receives configuration information from the gateway device including a forwarding table, the RAN may be prepared to receive non-IP data from a WTRU including a routing tag. The routing tag may be based on the device ID of a WTRU and service ID. The RAN may transmit the non-IP data received from the WTRU to the gateway device over a routing path based on the routing tag and a forwarding table where the non-IP data is forwarded on to its detention, such as another WTRU or an Application Server.

  • Patent number: 10764906
Abstract: Described herein is a silent period method and apparatus for dynamic spectrum management. The methods include configuration and coordination of silent periods across an aggregated channel in a wireless communication system. A silent period management entity (SPME) dynamically determines silent period schedules for channels based on system and device information and assigns a silent period duration and periodicity for each silent period. The SPME may reconfigure the silent period schedule based on system delay, system throughput, channel quality or channel management events. A silent period interpretation entity (SPIE) receives and implements the silent period schedule. The silent periods for the channels may be synchronized, independent, or set-synchronized.

  • Publication number: 20200260351
Abstract: Coordinated P-GW change for SIPTO may be provided. A WTRU may send and/or receive one or more flows via a first PDN connection and via a first P-GW. The WTRU may send an indication to the network that at least one flow of the first PDN connection is available for SIPTO. The indication may include one or more SIPTO preferences. The WTRU may receive a message from a MME. The message may trigger establishment of a second PDN connection via a second P-GW. The WTRU may move, while maintaining the first PDN connection, the at least one flow from the first PDN connection to the second PDN connection. The WTRU may deactivate the first PDN connection when the one or more flows have been moved to the second PDN connection and/or when no information has been received via the first PDN connection after a predetermined duration.

  • Publication number: 20200186606
Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may establish one or more protocol data unit (PDU) sessions via a radio access network (RAN) node. The WTRU may transition to an inactive state. The WTRU may send a connection resume message to a RAN node that indicates a request to resume the established plurality of PDU sessions via the RAN node. • Publication number: 20200178196
Abstract: A WTRU may initiate access for a PDU session over multiple access networks. The WTRU may register with two or more access networks. For example, the WTRU may register with a 3GPP access network (e.g., LTE Advanced) and a non-3GPP access network (e.g., Wi-Fi). The WTRU may determine to request a multi-access PDU session for a (e.g., at least one) PDU session. A multi-access PDU session may correspond to a PDU session where the WTRU communicates one or more PDUs associated with the PDU session over the 3GPP access network and one or more PDUs associated with the PDU session over the non-3GPP access network. The WTRU may receive a confirmation message indicating that a multi-access PDU session has been established. The WTRU may send uplink data over the 3GPP access network and the non-3GPP access network, e.g., in accordance with the established multi-access PDU session.
