  • Publication number: 20170357550
Abstract: A full backup copy of a storage volume can be created from only incremental backups of the storage volume. A bitmap can be created that includes a set of depopulated indicator locations configured to contain a set of indicators, where each indicator location represents a corresponding portion of the storage volume. Portions of the storage volume from which data was copied to a set of incremental backups can be identified. Indicators providing correspondence between the identified portions of the storage volume and the incremental backups of the set of incremental backups can be created in the bitmap, until the set of indicator locations in the bitmap is fully populated. In accordance with the set of indicators, data from the set of incremental backups corresponding to the identified portions of the storage volume can be copied to the backup copy.

  • Publication number: 20170359758
Abstract: An example gateway device determines that a first policy, applicable to a subscriber device when the subscriber device is coupled to a first access network, indicates that packets from the subscriber device are to be sent to a service device, and forwards a first set of packets from the subscriber device to the service device while the subscriber device is coupled to the first access network. After determining that the subscriber device has become coupled to a second access network of the plurality of access networks, the gateway device determines that a second policy, for the subscriber device when the subscriber device is coupled to the second access network, does not indicate that packets should be sent to the service device, but nevertheless forwards a second set of packets from the subscriber device to the service device while the subscriber device is coupled to the second access network.

  • Publication number: 20170336994
Abstract: Mechanism designed to minimize copying of data from one memory tier to another. Data in a first memory location, is addressed based on its logical block address (LBA). When the data is copied into a second cache memory location, the LBA is updated to address the data at the second location. The first memory location is preserved intact. If the data is to be copied back to the first memory location, and the data has not changed since being copied into the second location, the LBA is updated to address the data at the first memory location, and no physical copying of the data from the second location to the first is performed.

  • Patent number: 9800796
Abstract: An imaging system includes an image sensor to capture a sequence of images, including a low dynamic range (LDR) image and a high dynamic range (HDR) image, and a processor coupled to the image sensor to receive the LDR image and the HDR image. The processor receives instructions to perform operations to segment the LDR image and HDR image into a plurality of segments. The processor also scans the plurality of LDR and HDR image segments to find a first image segment in the plurality of LDR image segments and a second image segment in the plurality of HDR image segments. The processor then finds interest points in the first and second image segments, and determines an alignment parameter based on matched interest points. The LDR image and the HDR image are combined in accordance with the alignment parameter.

  • Publication number: 20170257393
Abstract: Aspects of the technology described herein allow webpages to maintain control over content displayed as part of the webpage when viewed on a browser. The technology described herein can send a security script and validation rules along with a webpage to a web browser. The web browser then runs the security script, which monitors content on the webpage. In one aspect, when an add-in attempts to display secondary content, the security script checks identification information associated with the secondary content against the validation rules, which lists authorized content. If the secondary content does not satisfy a validation rule, then the security script can prevent the browser from displaying the secondary content.

  • Patent number: 9652158
Abstract: A method for accelerating a background replication process on storage volumes during application I/O (input/output) requests includes reading requested data from a first storage volume. The method stores the requested data in an embedded memory device, and providing the requested data to the application. The method receives a read request from the background replication process. The method responds to the read request from the background replication process by providing data from the embedded memory device to the requesting background replication process concurrently with providing data to the requesting application. The method stores, by the background replication process, the data provided from the embedded memory device onto a second storage volume.

  • Publication number: 20170093903
Abstract: The low latency use of a multi-tenancy environment. To protect against hostility between tenants within different trust domains, tenant(s) of a common trust domain are run within a trust boundary component. Thus, there is security to protect against potential hostility between tenants of different trust domains. In order to quickly start up trust boundary components, there are multiple pre-readied (e.g., initialized, pre-booted, and/or snapshotted) trust boundary components that may be started up quickly when a new trust boundary is to be established. Processes within the trust boundary component may additionally be run within a resource container that facilitates allocation of resources amongst the various processes. Because trust boundary components may be started up quickly, the multi-tenancy environment may have security (as provided by the trust boundary components) while still being lower latency (due to the fast availability of pre-readied trust boundaries).

  • Publication number: 20170078097
Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods for managing network traffic using biometrics. A server may store a first value N, a primitive root modulo N, and a plurality of verification codes generated using the primitive root modulo N to the power of a hash function result of a respective portion of a first biometric template acquired from the user during enrollment. The sever may receive a request to connect to the server, from a client operated by the user. The client may use a first offset identifier from the server to identify a first portion of a second biometric template acquired from the user, and generate a first value corresponding to a common exponentiation function. The server may generate a second value corresponding to the common exponentiation function. The server may determine that the user is authenticated if the first value from the client matches the second value.

  • Publication number: 20170065976
Abstract: Endothelial cells can become susceptible to disease when subjected to disturbed (atheroprone) blood flow patterns, which naturally occur in known locations in human arteries. Atheroprone flow is non-laminar, with low fluid shear stress magnitude and an oscillatory pattern representative in the temporal signature. At a macro-scale, atheroprone flow is multidirectional and chaotic. On the other hand, atheroprotective flow is laminar with high fluid shear stresses that have a specific temporal signature. Therefore, understanding the interplay between the atheroprotective and atheroprone hemodynamics and endothelial function is important. The invention relates, in some embodiments, to microfluidic devices and methods that dynamically apply controlled and physiologically relevant spatio-temporal atheroprone and atheroprotective flow signatures.

  • Patent number: 9483540
Abstract: A mechanism is provided in a data processing system for data replication. The mechanism divides a set of data to be replicated into a plurality of slices. Each slice of the plurality of slices is to be copied from a primary site to a master secondary site within a plurality of secondary sites. The plurality of secondary sites comprises the master secondary site and at least one subsidiary peer site. The mechanism copies the plurality of slices from the primary site to the plurality of secondary sites such that the master secondary site stores a first slice of the set of data and each of the at least one subsidiary peer site stores a corresponding slice of the set of data. Responsive to completion of copying the plurality of slices to the plurality of secondary sites, for each of the at least one subsidiary peer site, the mechanism initiates copying of the corresponding slice of the set of data to the master secondary site.
