  • Publication number: 20160274795
Abstract: A mechanism is provided in a data processing system for asynchronous replication. The mechanism creates a record in a write log in a host computing device for a write command and marking the record as uncommitted. The mechanism maintains a copy of data to be written by the write command at the host computing device. The mechanism issues the write command from the host computing device to a primary storage controller at the primary storage site. Responsive to receiving an acknowledgement from the primary storage controller that the data have been written to the primary storage site, the mechanism marks the record as unreplicated. Responsive to receiving an acknowledgement from the primary storage controller that the data have been replicated to a secondary storage site, the mechanism erases the record in the write log and deleting the copy of data.

  • Publication number: 20160269402
Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods for managing network traffic using biometrics. A server may store a first value N, a primitive root modulo N, and a plurality of verification codes generated using the primitive root modulo N to the power of a hash function result of a respective portion of a first biometric template acquired from the user during enrollment. The sever may receive a request to connect to the server, from a client operated by the user. The client may use a first offset identifier from the server to identify a first portion of a second biometric template acquired from the user, and generate a first value corresponding to a common exponentiation function. The server may generate a second value corresponding to the common exponentiation function. The server may determine that the user is authenticated if the first value from the client matches the second value.

  • Patent number: 9444518
Abstract: A one-touch application is launched by a user of a mobile communication device (MCD) selecting a single selector element on the MCD, and in response the MCD automatically and without further user interaction establishes near field communication (NFC) with an electronic product, receives identifying data from the electronic product over NFC, and uploads the identifying data wirelessly to a cloud server associated with a manufacturer of the electronic product. The server sends back to the MCD and/or to the electronic product information about the electronic product.

  • Patent number: 9442672
Abstract: In a method for replicating data, a first controller receives a request to write data from a device. The first controller communicates with a second controller to obtain information necessary for the second controller to receive the data. The first controller determines settings that allow for the first controller and the second controller to each receive the data using the information necessary for the second controller to receive the data. The first controller sends the settings that allow for the first controller and the second controller to each receive the data to the device. The first controller receives the data sent from the device to the first controller and the second controller based on the settings that allow for the first controller and the second to each receive the data.

  • Publication number: 20160235881
Abstract: A method for preparing a hydrogel coating for a wound dressing to provide the wound dressing with non-adhesion properties without interfering with the bioactivity of the agents contained in the wound dressing. The hydrogel coating is formed by treating the substrate with O2 plasma before applying a hydrogel precursor solution onto the substrate, and then curing the hydrogel precursor onto the substrate to form the hydrogel coating on the surface of the substrate. Hydrogel coatings for a wound dressing and wound dressings having a hydrogel coating are further described.

  • Publication number: 20160122588
Abstract: Wax compositions are provided with improved properties for various applications, such as coating of corrugated cardboard or other cellulosic paper materials. As described herein, paraffin waxes having a very broad molecular weight distribution are provided, e.g., 95% carbon number spread of at least 18 carbon atoms, which result in wax compositions with a relatively hard needle penetration value, suitable blend kinematic viscosity, and provide equivalent or better wet strength and water proofing properties as compared to waxes currently commercially used in corrugated coating. The paraffin wax compositions described herein also provide a higher congealing point, thereby benefiting the high temperature properties such as oil bleed, appearance and friction coefficient of the corrugating wax coating.

  • Patent number: 9286390
Abstract: Search results are provided with rich content in defined display areas defined via a border, background, other like graphical elements, or combinations thereof. Within the defined display area, search results content is formatted to evoke a particular theme or concept appropriate for the information identified by the search result. Additionally, within the defined display area, a graphical preview of the search result is provided in an animated manner evocative of user scrolling. Collections of search results are arranged in grids, like tiles. Search results are reviewed on a grid-by-grid basis, with small portions of prior, or subsequent, grids being displayed at the edges of the display, thereby visually indicating that further, or subsequent, grids are accessible. Alternatively, other grids can represent different types of search results. The quantity in a grid, and their size, are dynamically adjusted based on the size of the display.
