  • Publication number: 20190044040
Abstract: Pixelated-LED chips and related methods are disclosed. A pixelated-LED chip includes an active layer with independently electrically accessible active layer portions arranged on or over a light-transmissive substrate. The active layer portions are configured to illuminate different light-transmissive substrate portions to form pixels. Various enhancements may beneficially provide increased contrast (i.e., reduced cross-talk between pixels) and/or promote inter-pixel illumination homogeneity, without unduly restricting light utilization efficiency. In some aspects, a light extraction surface of each substrate portion includes protruding features and light extraction surface recesses. Lateral borders between different pixels are aligned with selected light extraction surface recesses. In some aspects, selected light extraction surface recesses extend through an entire thickness of the substrate. Other technical benefits may additionally or alternatively be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20190038497
Abstract: The universal walker seat is an apparatus that supports a user while standing and sitting. The apparatus allows a user to sit if the user is too weak or tired to continue walking. The apparatus includes a folding walker, at least one suspending sheet, and a set of fasteners. The folding walker allows a user to redistribute weight while walking in order to ease the stress of walking on whichever body part is not strong enough to support the user. The at least one suspending sheet safely and comfortably supports a user while sitting with the folding walker. The at least one suspending sheet hangs from the folding walker with the set of fasteners. The set of fasteners allows the at least one suspending sheet to be attached to a variety of folding walkers and remain attached to a folding walker regardless if the folding walker is extended or collapsed.

  • Publication number: 20190026458
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for requesting a plurality of credentials from a trusted entity. A local validation device (LVD) receives a credential request or an identifier from each of a plurality of user devices. The LVD generates or compiles a bundle of credential requests corresponding to the plurality of user devices. The LVD transmits the bundle of credentials requests to the MVD. The MVD receives the bundle of request and performs a validation for each request in the bundle and then communicates the credentials and/or the results of the validations to the LVD. The LVD communicates credentials to each of the plurality of user devices. In some cases, the LVD performs the validation for each credential request. For instance, the LVD can receive a local enforcement policy from the MVD, which can provide instructions or guidance to the LVD as to how to perform the validations.

  • Patent number: 10161772
Abstract: A fluid flow sensor is provided that includes a flow sensor cartridge that is insertable within the fluid flow sensor and that provides greatly enhanced repeatability for the movement of the flow element without undesired engagement of the flow element with the flow body. The cartridge includes a saddle carrier and frame structure that forms a housing for the flow element to enable the flow element to be consistently positioned within the cartridge during manufacture. The flow element cartridge also includes non-uniform fulcrums to enable different but repeatable flexing properties for the flow element within the flow body and non-vertical hinge geometries that reduce stress on the flow element when bending, thereby increasing the useful life of the flow element and fluid flow sensor. The cartridge can also include an over-molded connection between the cartridge and the pressure measurement tubes to provide elastic strain relief on the tubes connected to the cartridge.

  • Publication number: 20180333903
Abstract: In methods and apparatuses for producing auxetic foam from conventional foam, conventional foam is compressed into a mold before thermal, chemical or thermo-chemical treatment processes are performed. A segmented mold is accommodated in a compressing apparatus. After compressing the foam between the mold segments, the mold is fastened shut and removed from the compressing apparatus. The forces applied to any given volume of foam and the amounts by which the foam is compressed while being processed are controlled to impart desired mechanical properties to the produced foam. Poisson's ratio and density of discrete portions of finished foam shapes are reliably predicted and controlled to achieve uniform and non-uniform mechanical properties within a single continuous quantity of foam.
