  • Publication number: 20160169231
Abstract: An electric pump powered by an electric motor having a stator disposed within a hollow rotor is provided. Impellers on the rotor outer surface extend into a fluid flow path defined by the pump. One or more torque-producing rotor sections are driven by a plurality of independently controllable stator sections disposed within the rotor cavity. The relative positions of the rotor and stator are maintained by a plurality of bearings configured to allow rotation of the rotor and defining a bearing span. The pump is configured such that the stator and rotor share the same bearing span. Such an arrangement reduces motor windage losses relative to conventional motors in which the rotor is disposed within the stator, owing to a reduction in the diameter of the air gap between the stator and the rotor. In addition, the peripheral speed of the pump is increased owing to an increase in the rotor diameter.

  • Publication number: 20160170496
Abstract: The subject disclosure relates to annotating data based on gestures. Gestures include user interaction with a client device or client software. Gestures are tracked and associated with data. In an aspect, client context associated with a gesture is also tracked. The gestures are then employed to determine a global term to associate with the data. In an aspect, a look-up table comprising a pre-defined relationship between gestures and a global term can be employed. In another aspect, an inference component employ context information in conjunction with the tracked gestures to determine a global term to assign to data. After a global term is determined for data based on a gesture, an annotation file for the data can be created associating the data with the global term.

  • Patent number: 9369937
Abstract: A Long Term Evolution (LTE) network wirelessly exchanges data with User Equipment (UE) over multiple data bearers having a combination of Quality-of-Service Class Indicators (QCIs). The LTE network wirelessly receives radio measurement data from the UE for a voice communication network and for a data communication network. The LTE network determines at network-selection parameters based on the combination of the QCIs for the UE. The LTE network processes the radio measurement data based on the network-selection parameters to select the data communication network for the UE instead of the voice communication network.

  • Patent number: 9370016
Abstract: A UE gauges how many UEs are currently served in each of various coverage systems, by evaluating downlink control channel signaling in each coverage system to determine from the control signaling an extent to which the signaling provides for UE scheduling and to establish a corresponding relative measure of an extent to which the coverage system is serving UEs. In an example implementation, this evaluation may involve eliminating from consideration any control channel signaling that is not associated with UE scheduling, so as to determine by exclusion an extent to which the downlink control channel signaling is associated with UE scheduling. The UE then compares such relative measures of the various coverage systems as a basis to select a coverage system in which to operate, such as by favoring operation in the coverage that thereby seems to be serving the fewest number of UEs.

  • Patent number: 9370004
Abstract: A UE may be configured to support wireless communication in two or more frequency bands. In some embodiments, the UE initiates a first wireless communication session in a first frequency band of the two or more frequency bands, and in response to initiating the wireless communication session in the first frequency band, the UE prevents itself from communicating in a second frequency band of the set of two or more frequency bands until the first wireless communication session has ended. Some embodiments further include subsequently enabling the UE to communicate in the second frequency band of the set of two or more frequency bands in response to ending the first wireless communication session in the first frequency band.

  • Patent number: 9367918
Abstract: A multi-view stereo approach generates an inventory of objects located on an object holder. An object may be a sample tube and an object holder may be a tube rack as used in lab automation for healthcare diagnostics. A processor performs 3D tracking of the object holder and the geometric analysis of multiple images generated by a calibrated camera. A homography mapping between images is utilized to warp a second image to a viewpoint of a first image. Plane induced parallax causes a normalized cross-correlation score between the first image and the warped second image of a location on the holder that has an object that is significantly different from a normalized cross-correlation score of a location that has not an object and enables the processor to infer tube inventory and absence or presence of a tube at a location in a rack.

  • Patent number: 9363822
Abstract: A method and system for assigning resources to user equipment devices (UEs) is disclosed. A communication system may include a wireless network that allocates, among a plurality of UEs, resources on a given carrier. The wireless network may support carrier aggregation using a combination of the given carrier and at least one other carrier. The method involves the wireless network making a determination that (i) a first UE is operating without carrier aggregation and (ii) a second UE is operating with carrier aggregation. The method further involves, in response to making the determination, the wireless network giving the first UE higher priority than the second UE for resource assignment on the given carrier.

  • Patent number: 9363713
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for accounting for network signaling values in handover decisions. A serving base station may receive a message from a served user equipment device (UE) indicating that handover condition is met for handing over to one or more target base stations. The serving base station can determine a respective network signaling value being used by each target base station, and thereby determine how much uplink attenuation the UE would be directed to apply for each potential handover. The serving base station can also determine its downlink power and that the target base stations as measured by the UE. The serving base station can then make a handover decision taking account of a change in uplink attenuation for each potential handover.
